A SPANISH SIX-PIECE SILVER COFFEE AND TEA SERVICE The service comprising a teapot and a coffee pot, each with ivory insulators, a lidded sugar, a creamer, a waste bowl, a strainer, a pair of tongs and a serving tray. Each having scrolling foliate and shell repousse decoration, with acanthus leaf finials. With pentagram mark indicating .915 purity. Approximate total weight overall 211 ozt 7 dwt / 6574 g. H 1½ x W 30 x D 18 inches.
A CHINESE IVORY AND CLOISONNE FIGURE OF A SAGE The figure depicting a robed wise man with scroll, having an ivory head with ebonized details beneath a turquoise-accented cloisonne and gilt cap, the scroll of ivory and resting within the crook of the arm, the body of cloisonne with gilt accents and raised on a wire-inlaid footed stand. H 15¾ x W 4¾ x D 4¼ inches.
A large early 19th Century mahogany Chest, the veneered top split above a "secret" central banded flush drawer further over two half width and three full width drawers all with shield shaped ivory escutcheon and flanked by reeded pilasters, raised on French style slightly splaying bracket feet, 120cm wide (right hand side also split)
A 19th century Marine ivory walking cane with whitemetal cartouche engraved W M Barton Aston Hall 1840:, the ropetwist shaft with ebony ferrule and faceted pommel inset circular cartouche, inscribed as per title, possibly formerly of Aston Hall Brimingham, 87.5cm long. *Note- Aston Hall is a Grade I listed Jacobean House in Aston Birmingham designed by John Thorpe for Sir Thomas Holte in 1631. The house remained in the family until 1817 when the house and contents were sold at auction.
Of Napoleonic interest- a Georgian ivory toothpick holder containing a folded section of paper inscribed `Bonaparte`s hair`:, the gilt inlaid ivory holder inscribed `Walne`. *Note- the packet contains several strands of hair, reputedly belonging to Napoleon Bonaparte, possibly taken from HMS Bellerophon whilst in Torbay harbour.
