The double silk leaf hand painted with an elegant lady and her attendant, bordered by crowned and plain gilt spangles the ivory sticks painted at the gorge, the guards inlaid with tortoiseshell and with the finest of piqué work. The verso painted with a basket of flowers and decorated with gold spangles. With tortoiseshell thumb piece at base. Length 23.5 cm.
λ An 18th century ivory fan, with elaborately carved and pierced Chinoiserie guards and sticks, the sticks with two panels containing Chinese figures, the guards with a single Chinese figure and foliate scrollwork, the leaf mounted à l’anglaise fashion and hand-painted with a rural scene of travellers on horseback seeking accommodation, the verso painted with an angler on a bridge, with floral border, circa 1760, length 28.5cm
