An impressive 19th century Chinese European export lacquered sewing table, the top profusely decorated in gilt centrally depicting a port scene with tradesmen and the arrival of warriors upon dragon boats all within a peony and vignette border, the hinged cover and compartmented interior similarly richly decorated surrounded by a floral and yunwen border, enclosing an arrangement of carved ivory sewing implements including a pair of needle cases, six thread barrels, two clamps, a tatting shuttle, a pair of cylindrical boxes and covers, thread winders, needles and others, with sliding work box below, all raised on turned supports with carved anthemion and claw feet joined by a stretcher with profuse gilt decoration, 75cm H x 63cm W x 43.5cm D
