Falofsi (early 19th Century Continental school) - Miniature half-length portrait of a young gentleman wearing high collar and blue jacket with brass buttons, thought to be on ivory, 3ins diameter, signed "Falofsi", in gilt metal frame, late 18th Century (English school) - pencil and watercolour miniature portrait of a gentleman with wig and wearing wide-brimmed hat, oval 5.25ins x 3.75ins, indistinctly signed in pencil by the artist and dated 1781, framed and glazed, and early 19th Century (English school) - Half-length miniature portrait of a young woman with a red ribbon in her hair, on ivory, 4ins x 3ins, in ebonised frame and glazed Note: The Falofsi portrait is identified by a later hand as William Dennison. His left ivory foot is loose in the leg. Crack running down the left side of his back - a natural flaw with a bit of movement. Small chip to edge of robe at the bottom of his back. Tree trunk base appears to be in overall good condition. Rectangular cavity on the underside where the seal is now missing.

A Chinese "Cantonese" ivory rectangular box deeply carved in bold relief, the cover with figures in a palace garden, the front and back with figures in a procession and figures in an interior, the sides with various flowers, with floral and leaf carved borders, the interior with removable two-handled tray, 6.75ins (17.2cm) wide x 5.5 (13.4cm) deep x 5ins (12.7cm) high (late 19th Century - hinged lid detached - base detached from box - crack in base - corner section detached - opening joints) Note: Please be aware that according to CITES Regulations, it will be necessary to acquire an export license to export this lot outside the EU. It will not be possible to export this lot to the USA.Condition - Whilst the box is very finely carved it is in quite poor condition, much of which is stated in the description. The hinged fixings for the lid are missing and the lid is completely detached. All the corner joins on the box and the base are opening to somewhat. There is some damage around the lock. One of the corner bamboo carved sections in detached. Again the corner joins of the base are opening somewhat, there is a very bad crack running along the base. Lots of glue residue and some warping to the base.
