A GEORGIAN PRESENTATION OFFICER'S MAMELUKE OF WATERLOO INTEREST, 82.5cm broad clipped back curved blade decorated with scrolling foliage, stands of arms, crowned Royal arms and crowned GR cypher, all highlighted in gilt, characteristic gilt hilt, the cross guard chiselled with acanthus scrolls, the back strap with laurel leaves and berries, two-piece riveted ivory gripped, some repairs, contained in its gilt mounted plated scabbard, engraved Presented to Major Brabasin Disney 23rd Light Dragoons. Brabazon (Brabasin) Disney was appointed Coronet 19th September 1811 and as a Lt-Colonel on the 31st of August 1830. Brabazon fought with the 11th Light Dragoons during the Peninsula 1811-13, El-Bodon, Salamanca and Burgos and with the 23rd Light Dragoons at Quatre Bras and Waterloo where he was wounded. The misspelling of the Brabazon/Brabasin name features in period documents including Battle of Waterloo by Lieut-General Scott in 1815 and Christopher Kelly Esquire in 1818. Sold with a comprehensive selection of copied paperwork to include a frank and detailed account of the battle at Waterloo detailed in a letter to his father.
A LATE 18TH CENTURY LIGHT DRAGOON OFFICER'S SWORD WITH RARE FOLDING ATTACK HILT, 80cm curved blade etched with scrolling foliage and stands of arms, retains traces of gilt decoration, the steel hilt with D-shaped knuckle guard with two subsidiary guards folding out to form an attack hilt, retained by a spring clip, faceted back strap, pommel and tang button, chequered ivory grip. Typically associated with the 15th Light Dragoons, see page 64 of Swords of the British Army by Robson, tip rounded.

AN INDIAN ARMY OFFICER'S SWORD TO THE SCINDE IRREGULAR HORSE, 89cm slightly curved blade by Wilkinson, pre-serial number, etched with maker's panel, scrolling foliage and crowned VR cyphers, sharpened for use, characteristic steel hilt pierced with scrolling foliage, wire bound ribbed ivory grip, no scabbard. A 19TH CENTURY LOCKWOOD BROTHER'S BOWIE KNIFE, 16cm flattened diamond section blade stamped with the manufacturer's details at the forte, foliate decorated white metal mounted hilt with shaped ivory grip, together with another similar by Rodgers and a third, also by Rodgers but worn and in a later scabbard. A GOOD LATE 18TH OR 19TH CENTURY INDIAN KARD, 24.75cm Western style Bowie blade composed of Kirk Narduban damascus, chased and shaped back edge, the upper edge of the forte pierced with two channels containing fifteen gilt steel balls or Tears of the Wounded, characteristic hilt with scrolling foliate gold koftgari, two-piece riveted ivory grips with short-ears, contained in its purple velvet wrapped wooden scabbard, the throat with scrolling bullion wire decoration. Some patination.

Possibly a Wootz damascus blade.

MANCHR REGT FWT, ebonised haft, metal ferrule, 89cm long over all.
