A Mid-18th Century Fan in the Chinoiserie Style, découpé, the single paper leaf in silver and mounted à l'Anglaise on pierced and carved ivory sticks. The recto depicts a seated man watching a child at play, a bird above, the child with net poised to catch it. The reserves are painted with flowers, the left side featuring thistles. The verso is more simply decorated with flowers. Guard length 11.25 inches or 28.5cmThe silvering is a little dark with tarnish. The découpage is in good order, with one small area of loss to the bottom left.
