A Chinese ivory jewellery box, Qing dynasty, 19th century, of rectangular form, the hinged top carved with a border of flowerheads, leaf scrolls and stiff leaves around a central raised oval of carved flowers and leaves and enclosing a purple velvet lined interior with lift out tray and white metal handles, the sides with raised central floral panels and carved bamboo to the corners, stiff leaf carved border to the base, on stepped feet, white metal hinges, lock, escutcheon and original key, 20cm wide.Illustrated.
A Japanese silk fan, Meiji, the ivory guard sticks decorated with shibyana, the leaf on one side embroidered with a peacock and other birds amongst flowering branches and a bamboo tree, the other side with insects amongst flowering branches, feather edged, the guard sticks 28cm long, in a gilt decorated lacquered rectangular wooden case.Illustrated.
Chinese silver five piece tea set - comprising teapot of octagonal form, with engraved bamboo decoration and engraved initial - S, against a matted background, silver angular handle with ivory insulators and domed hinged cover, on an octagonal foot, matching silver basin and tongs, cream jug and large rectangular two-handled tray marked - ZeeSung Sterling, with Chinese character mark, with custom-made display cases. All at approximately 115ozs (qty) CONDITION REPORT General overall condition very good. Some minor surface wear and scratching. No signs of major damage or repair. Some crazing to blue tones. Dirt and debris under glass, otherwise no discernible damage. Case is worn.Gainsborough lady- under glass, not examined out of frame. A few surface scratches, possibly one or two slight fractures to the ivory. Case is ok.Gentleman- Some discolouration deterioration particularly to white tones (area around his hat and bottom right). Frame mostly ok
Early Victorian burr walnut vanity box extensively fitted with silver plate mounted glass bottles and tidies, with velvet lined interior and push release drawer below, 31cm wide CONDITION REPORT Outer box is generally OK, some splits and minor wear/repair, repair to mirror catch - to underside of lid. S. Lavender silk-lined folding case. Provenance: Probably purchased D. S. Lavender, London 1986 (described on receipt as dated 1768) CONDITION REPORT Under glass, not examined out of frame miniature appears to be in good condition with only very slight wear to far outer edge. Frame with two pearls and one red stone missing, reverse has solder residue from a previous scheme of mounting
