An Indian rug, the ivory field with a "gold" lobed pole medallion, black spandrels, a "gold" border, all with minor floral sprays, 5'2" x 3'1" together with a silk Kashmir rug, the pink field with a shaped rose medallion, dark indigo spandrels, a brown flower and spray border, 6'6" x 3'11", (2).
A fine ebony and marquetry secretaire cabinet by Hunsinger, Paris, circa 1880, with a pair of architectural doors and a secretaire drawer, signed Hunsinger a Paris on the lock h.166cm.; w.85cm.; d.49cm. Charles Hunsinger (1823-1893), specialised in furniture made with ebony and ivory marquetry. He became established at 244 rue du Fauborg-Saint-Antoine in 1863 and transferred his workshop to 56, rue de la Roquette in 1867, together with 13, rue Sedaine in 1874. In 1872, he formed a business with Charles-Adolphe-Federic Wagner. They took part in the Paris Exhibitions of 1865, 1867, 1868 and 1889 and won a gold medal at Brussels in 1881.
