A quantity of 18th century baby clothes, including a partial layette, consisting of a mid 18th century fine satin silk christening gown, with rows of fine pleating at front, fringing around hem, neckline and in a double row down the front of gown, lined with ivory silk, in excellent condition. A long fustian vest, sleeveless, with ribbon tape shoulder straps and fastenings and two fustian caps. Four Georgian ivory and yellow metal inlaid toothpick cases, length of largest 8.5cm (4).Additional InformationA pique decorated example with central panel of hair, the hinge is separated and loose spurring a fine crack to the back where the pins should have been which are now missing, one small pin to the front missing, the rounded rectangular example has light surface wear. The oval example with some of the metal inlay replaced, the interior mirror is badly perished as is the cord surround. The rectangular example has a loose action, surface wear and a small chip/groove to the base section.
Two late 19th century portrait miniatures on ivory depicting young gentlemen, the larger indistinctly signed to right side, 8.2 x 6.5cm, larger glazed, both in gilt metal frames, smaller with easel back. (2)Additional InformationMisshaping to both frames, tarnish, rubbing to the gilt, the unglazed example with some surface marks and spotting, the second example indistinctly signed as stated, both backings somewhat worn.

G MERRIFIELD OF HOLBORN; a late 19th century ivory and stained ivory part complete chess set, one pawn a replacement bone piece and several pieces damaged, in original mahogany box with manufacturer's paper label to interior, height of king 7.5cm, and a smaller bone and stained bone part complete set, also with damaged pieces. Additional InformationIvory set missing one pawn as stated, two white pawns damaged, lost the upper halves, the kind has damage to the upper 'crown', queen also with some small chips to 'crown', two red pawns broken, one upper section completely lost, one with chip to upper knop, the red queen also with damage and loss to the 'crown', the king with small area of damage to the upper crown, regarding the bone set it is missing one of the white knights, one of the red bishops, both red and white castles have lost their bases, one of the white castles also with damage to the top, the red king reattached to the base crudely, two of the white pawns have lost upper section, the only remaining white knight has been crudely repaired to the midsection, regarding both sets, further general wear, small chips, nibbles, natural and later splits and hairlines, please view illustrations and request additional if necessary.

A late 19th century ivory and base metal purse, with carved floral decoration and vacant cartouche, length 8cm.Additional InformationThe silk lining has perished in parts, traces of some penwork detail to the carved front which is now rubbed, some surface scratches, tarnishing to the metalware, but overall ok.
