A very large and impressive 19th century cutler's Exhibition or Advertising carving knife, with an intricately carved ivory handle, surmounted by a carved recumbent lion and with two front panels, one panel depicting Neptune in a chariot, drawn by a pair of sea-horses and the other carved with roses, thistles, shamrocks, and a daffodil. The back of the handle is plain and the silver plated ferrule is embossed with an image of hunting dog. The curved blade is etched on one side with scrolling floral decoration and engraved 'A Darwin & Son, Sheffield, England'. 100cm overall length.
