A 19th century mahogany cabinet bookcase, fitted with shelves, with panelled doors below. Note: a non-transferable ivory exemption certificate has been granted for this item, ref 9M5AXWXS90w x 36d x 224h cmOverall complete and usable, but dirty and unrestored, having come from a house. Missing a hinge and some moulding to door panels are taped on. One ivory escutcheon missing. Has key that works. Shelves inside. Doors look flat and to have old glass. Generally in tired condition, with a dull dirty finish inside and out, various knocks and surface marks. Sides are polished. Shelves are 12 inches deep inside.
JUMANJI (1995) - Alan Parrish's (Robin Williams) Screen-matched SFX KnifeAlan Parrish's (Robin Williams) screen-matched SFX knife from Joe Johnston's adventure film Jumanji. Alan wielded his knife when he returned to his family home after 26 years of being trapped inside the supernatural board game of the title. This knife's handle can be screen-matched to the scene where he waved the blade at the lion that was released with him, and the weapon ended up embedded in the floor. The knife features a metal blade covered in grey-painted resin designed to resemble carved stone, and a resin handle hand-painted to resemble worked ivory. Williams was trained to handle knives with the special steel insert, which he used to throw and stick into the mansion floor. This knife exhibits discolouration and chipped resin. HIGHLANDER (1986) - Ramirez's (Sean Connery) Hero Katana and ScabbardJuan Sánchez-Villalobos Ramírez's (Sean Connery) hero katana from Russell Mulcahy's fantasy adventure Highlander. The Spanish-Egyptian immortal used his sword to train Connor MacLeod (Christopher Lambert), before being beheaded by The Kurgan (Clancy Brown). The mysterious sword was passed to MacLeod, and was a key plot device throughout the series, becoming his signature weapon through the ages. Custom-made for the production, this hero sword boasts a polished stainless steel blade; a machined aluminium guard; a cast resin grip; and a wooden scabbard covered in red leather. The blade is blunt and smooth to ensure on-set safety. The grip features relief detailing of Japanese dragons, lions and samurai, and has a faux-ivory finish. The guard is finished in gold, as are the scabbard's cast metal side and end caps. The piece displays some scrapes, pitting and corrosion across the guard, grip and scabbard from production use. HIGHLANDER II: THE QUICKENING (1991) - Dragon-handled Katana and SheathA dragon-handled katana and sheath from the production of Russell Mulcahy's Highlander II: The Quickening. Ramirez (Sean Connery) and Connor MacLeod (Christopher Lambert) wielded their signature katanas throughout the film.This lot consists of a katana with an aluminium blade, a machined aluminium tsuba painted gold, and an ornate resin tsuka painted cream-colour to resemble carved ivory and engraved with Japanese-style patterns and images of a tiger and dragon, as well as a black faux bamboo sheath wrapped with matching fabric at the base. The katana is intentionally distressed by production to appear aged and well-used. Following production, it underwent sympathetic restoration, but still exhibits discolouration and scuffs, while the sheath exhibits scratching. JURASSIC PARK (1993) - Photo-matched "Upper 19" Tyrannosaurus Rex ToothA photo-matched "Upper 19" Tyrannosaurus Rex tooth from Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park. Freed from her containment pen after a power outage, the T-Rex attacked Tim (Joseph Mazzello) and Lex (Ariana Richards) while they toured their grandfather's dinosaur-filled theme park. This tooth photo-matches to behind-the-scenes photographs from the construction of the animatronic T-Rex.This tooth, made of rigid urethane resin with a dental acrylic surface hand-painted ivory and brown, features saw-like serrated edges and was made by Stan Winston Studio for the animatronic's upper jaw. It features a drilled hole in the bottom for inserting into its allotted place and is numbered "19" in red ink. Also included is a Letter of Authenticity from Michael Trcic, Stan Winston Studio's key artist for the T-Rex. The base exhibits visible super glue residue from being affixed to the animatronic. It is hand-painted grey and bronze-colour to resemble a small metal figure with two heavyweight enlarged testicles dangling from a metal wire beneath the penis and a screw for mounting to a door embedded in the back. The metallic finish exhibits chipping and has turned green from age in places.
