A Japanese Carved Ivory Netsuke as Ashinaga and Tenaga, circa 1910-20, one carrying the other piggyback as they grab and step on a small octopus, 8cm long Ashinaga and Tenaga are two mythical Chinese fishermen who lived on the northern Chinese sea shore. Ashinaga has long legs, and Tenaga has long arms. In this netsuke Ashinaga`s long legs get entangled with the octopus, and they struggle to escape.
