An important group of three Chinese carvings in an ebonised Chinese collectors cabinet with all over diaper pattern carving and inscribed ivory tablet. The cabinet imitates books.The cabinet has two fitted drawers, in the top drawer are two carvings.A Chinese Ming style carving of a recumbent goat looking over its left flank at it's kid, each has a lotus flower in it's mouth in white jade with hints of russet, 18th century or earlier, length 6cm, on fine wood stand pierced and carved as ling chih fungus sprays.The second a Chinese greenish white Vajra with the face of Vajradhara, length 9.5cm. The lower drawer holds a Chinese white jade vase carved as a slender four petaled flower emerging from a flowering shrub forming a base and carved and pierced as flowers and branches in relief.18th/19th century, height 11.5cm.Cabinet size height 15cm, depth 15cm, width 12.2cm.Note: We translate the tablet as follows Chang Chun Ko Chen Wan from which a possible reading is ' A precious trinket from the large Spring Pavillion' Condition report: There are no apparent condition issues with any element of this lot.

Johannsen and Company, London, early 20th century The circular four pillar single chain fusee movement with Harrison's maintaining power, Earnshaw type spring detent escapement and split bimetallic balance with cylindrical compensating weights and helical balance spring, the spotted backplate with spring set-up ratchet and blued steel movement pillar and backcock securing screws, the 4 inch circular silvered Roman numeral dial with subsidiary seconds dial inscribed 9199 beneath signature A. Johannsen & Co., MAKERS TO THE ADMIRALTY, THE INDIAN GOV'T & ROYAL NAVIES, of Spain & Portugal, 149 Minories, London and WIND DOWN/UP dial to centre, secured by a screw-down bezel into a lacquered brass bowl with shuttered winding hole to underside and stamped with repeat serial number 9199 to interior mounted via gimbals into a mahogany three-tier box (top tier lacking), the front with vacant ivory name plate and the sides with recessed lacquered brass carrying handles, 18cm (7ins) wide. Danish born Asmus Johannsen is recorded in Loomes, Brian Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World, Volume 2 as working in London from 1863-9. He is also listed in Mercer, Tony Chronometer Makers of the World as a 'great maker supplying other makers..' who worked from various addresses in London from 1859 before finally moving to 149 Minories in 1865. LATE VICTORIAN STEINWAY ROSEWOOD GRAND PIANO, having overstrung gilded iron frame marked: 'Steinway and Sons, Overstrung Scale Patent, December 20, 1859, May 28th, 1872, New York', with other dates. Bearing label: 'Supplied by Harrods Ltd., London, no. H51376. On square tapering legs with spade feet and brass casters. Overall 182cm long. Together with a rectangular mahogany adjustable piano stool with American cloth lift seat and square tapering legs. (2) (B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Case has been French polished so is good but not deep lustre finish, more matt. Keys are not ivory. Overall good condition with nice grain. Various cracks in sound board appear to have been glued. As an Estate sale the family say that the piano was expensively restored and repaired by their father. No serial number found.
19TH CENTURY BRITISH SCHOOL, portrait of a young girl with blond ringlets, on ivory, within engraved pinchbeck frame, 43 x 37mm. Original leather covered box.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Some discolouring to the frame and the hinge appears to have been glued in place, miniature itself appearing good. The box itself is generally scuffed and worn with some damage to corners.

Long rug by the Ersari Turkmen of Beshir, Turkmenistan, second half 19th century, 9ft. 10in. X 4ft. 11in. 3m. X 1.50m. Some wear in places; small holes to top end; selvedges fraying; slight losses to striped flatweave ends. Diagonal rows of diamond shape motifs with cruciform centres in a variety of colours; the lower end with a curious complex chequerboard band; very narrow ivory main border. Lustrous wool and exceptional palette including the soft 'Beshir' yellow.

Central cruciform medallion in an ivory cartouche on a dark blue medallion within a diamond shape red field; indigo floral cane design spandrels; ivory main border.

Ivory and terracotta central medallions on a dark blue diamond shape field; ivory spandrels; all over herati design with very pretty tiny flowerheads. Finely woven with velvety wool; medium handle.

Two ivory medallions with birds on a terracotta field; dark blue boteh spandrels. Very finely woven with velvety wool.

Gendje 'boteh' rug, south east Caucasus, circa 1900, 8ft. X 3ft. 8in. 2.44m. X 1.12m. Some wear in places with 'bites' to sides; damage, old moth damage and holes in places; cobbled repairs to sides and ends; losses to ends. Ivory field with diagonal rows of boteh, each with flowers within; spaced medallion main border. Lustrous wool, soft palette and soft handle. cf. Bennett, i. op cit. pp. 148-149 for similar.
Teheran carpet, north central Persia, late 19th/early 20th century, 10ft. 2in. X 6ft. 9in. 3.10m. X 2.05m. Slight wear in places; very minor losses to ends. Ivory field with spectacular all over design of cypress trees with pairs of herons or cranes amongst the flowers and foliage; dark blue floral main border. Very finely woven with close clipped, velvety wool.

And a Kurdish rug, Bijar area, circa 1920s, 4ft. 8in. X 3ft. 5in. 1.42m. X 1.04m. Overall wear; slight losses to ends; small area of damage top left corner. Note the two tiny ivory human figures to each outside edge of the field, centre. Soft palette; robust handle. (2)
Good Lahore hunting rug, north east Pakistan, circa 1950s-60s, 7ft. 2in. X 4ft. 8in. 2.18m. X 1.42m. The ivory field featuring a lion, leopard, deer, a blue elephant and a blue water buffalo, and exotic birds among cypress trees, flowering trees and shrubs with two huntsmen on horseback emerging from the right hand side centre. The main border of cartouches featuring individual animals, birds and flowers. Finely woven with velvety wool.
'Art'(?) silk rug, possibly Sinkiang, East Turkestan, 20th century, 5ft. 11in. X 3ft. 7in. 1.80m. X 1.09m. Pastel rug 'washed' to a silky sheen; the ivory field with four large vases of flowers on pedestals; various filler ornaments including birds and flowering trees, within narrow multiple borders. Dark brown wool brocaded flatweave ends.
Ushak carpet, west Anatolia, late 19th/early 20th century, 12ft. 4in. X 12ft. 7in. 3.76m. X 3.84m. Overall wear with corrosion to dark brown in places; small repairs; small fabric patch verso lower end of field; losses to both ends (now stopped) fabric tape in places to left side verso. Completely plain field faded down to a soft pale colour with slightly pink overtones; wide ivory main border of large palmette design in green and sharp, deep yellow; yellow secondary border and yellow narrow inner guard. A quite spectacular design with soft lustrous wool and soft handle. Provenance: This carpet has been in the present owner's family from around the end of the 19th century.
Heriz carpet, north west Persia, late 19th/early 20th century, 11ft. 2in. X 8ft. 4in. 3.40m. X 2.54m. Overall wear, heavier in some places; corrosion to dark browns; small repairs; losses to ends. Dark blue central shield shape medallion with ivory flowerhead centre with pale blue details; earthy-red diamond shape field; the wide ivory spandrels with pale blue details; dark blue main border.
Shirvan banded kelim, south east Caucasus, late 19th century, 9ft. 2in. X 6ft. 7in. 2.80m. X 2.01m. Scatttered weft float brocaded details throughout. Wide dark blue and red bands each woven massive hexagons; ivory ribbon guards. Excellent bold palette. cf. Bennett, I. op cit. p. 338, pls. 448 & 449 where the author states that these pieces belong to a distinctive type of Shirvan banded kelim.

Very pretty rug with ivory cartouche shape field and pale terracotta central medallion; pale blue spandrels and pale blue gol farangi and bird main border. Lustrous wool and soft palette.
