AN UNUSUAL VICTORIAN INLAID TREEN KNITTING SHEATH having an octagonally- facetted top above integral lozenge, inverted baluster and spherical sections with divergent double scroll terminals linked by a turned 'stretcher', the body having all-over chip-carved zig-zag or 'dog-tooth' decoration, to one face having bone or ivory inlay above a rounded oblong mirror, to the other an incised crescent moon and star above an anchor and a studded brass shield, the edge carved with the phrase 'Forget-me-not', the other carved with the date 'Sep't 30st [sic] 1881', 18cm, (7in) long.
