A rare ivory alphabet hornbook circa 1800, the paddle shape engraved with capital letters of the alphabet and floral motifs Note: examples of similar style and date in ivory are very rare, as they are more usually found made of bone. The V & A has a bone example of similar date, and there is an ivory example in the American Treasures Library of Congress collection, and the New Zealand National Library exhibits another showing very close similarities. 9½ x 4cm (4 x 2in)

Bow - has no makers mark, but ivory and mother of pearl okay, the tightener works on bow. When looking inside the violin, only one strut supporting, not two?. No makers label inside.

Superb all over design in predominantly bright green, deep yellow and ivory of trellised leaves and abstract motifs on an old rose ground within a wide bright green border. The field composed of fourteen guls, each quartered in ivory and terracotta with brown ‘silhouette’ type motifs. Overall even wear. Together with an east Turkestan rug, possibly Kashgar, late 19th/early 20th century, 2ft. 9in. x 2ft. 7in. 0.84m. x 0.79m. Slight wear in places; ‘bite’ to kelim lower end.
Large chuval face by the Kizil Ayak of the Ersari Turkmen, south west Turkmenistan, early 20th century, 3ft. x 5ft. 5in. 0.91m. x 1.65m. Tiny spot of moth damage in field top left side; repairs to outer left side top. Note the single row of tree-like motifs in the lower elem with ivory and pale gold highlights.
Good Yomut Turkmen ‘kepse’ gul main carpet, Turkmenistan, late 19th/early 20th century, 11ft. 1in. x 6ft. 7in. 3.38m. x 2.01m. Some wear and small holes in places; surface mark lower end; small reweaves in places. Note the ivory main border and the Yomut ‘eagle’ motifs in each elem. Good lustrous wool and good colour including a light blue.
Tekke Turkmen main carpet, Turkmenistan, late 19th century, 10ft. 10in. x 7ft. 6in. 3.30m. x 2.29m. Overall wear, heavier at top end. Narrow ivory kelim ends with replacement fringes. Note the attractive complex main border with occasional ivory octagons each with four stars within and the ivory rectangles down each long side.

Very faded and with losses to ends. Sold as a collection with all faults, not subject to return. -5

Rya rug or bedcover, Finland, woven with initials and date of 1818, 5ft. 11in. x 4ft. 8in. 1.80m. x 1.42m. A most attractive Rya with a single large tree to each side of the field and two large ivory birds at the top beneath the initials: I(?) E S C E D and the date: 1818 Ryas with the tree design are well documented in Sirelius, U. T., The Ryijy-Rugs of Finland, pp. 104-109.
A Royal Worcester blush ivory floral painted and gilt heightened quatrolobe vase and cover signed F.J. Bray, the base with green painted marks, No 291, date code for 1910, height 17cm. CONDITION REPORT No apparent restoration, colour and gilding good, some slight wear to gilding on the finial.
