A carved whale bone walking stick, possibly American, mid 19th century, the intricately carved stick of tapered form, the cover tip with scale and reeded design rising to a four section barley twist stem, the square section ferrule inlaid with mother of pearl diamond, star and heart lozenges, extending to an octagonal form knopped handle, 100cm long NB: Examples of carved whale bone and marine ivory was a popular pastime of the North American whale men during the 19th century.
