A Japanese carved ivory chess set, Circa 1936Comprising thirty-two individual pieces, modelled as dignities and pagodas, with lacquered chess board, with original bill of sale from Miyasaki Honten, April 1936. CONDITION REPORT: No structure damage to the ivory, all pieces appear to be in sound condition with yellowing to the ivory. Scuffing/wear/loss to the board. Lock detached but present.
A matched pair of Japanese carved ivory tusk figures, late Meiji periodThe first carved with immortal figures and dragons, stained with diaper work designs, 33cm high, signed, together with another carved with a series of figures climbing a tree, red lacquered signature plaque to base, 38cm high. (2) CONDITION REPORT: Okimono - figures and dragons - small nibbles to the edge of the ivory throughout. Small crack to the dragon head. Okimono appears to have been restuck to the base. Overall yellowing to the ivory. Okimono - figures in trees - Large crack to the ladder, approx 6cm in length. Several further cracks to the group, mainly visable on the figures. Significant yellowing throughout. Okimono has been restuck to the base.

CONDITION REPORT: Sectional figure, left arm is slightly loose, the remaining figure is not sectional. Several concentric cracks to the base. Small areas of mino loss to the pegged section at the shoulder of the left arm. Small impact loss to the right shoulder, approx 0.5cm or less in size. Cracks to the figures forehead.

CONDITION REPORT: Crack in base, restoration to smallest figure. Also item missing from left hand. Damage on right hand. The large figure, the instrument key is missing and there are minor cracks. No visible signature.

CONDITION REPORT: Base has been screwed to the Okimono this is difficult to remove, therefore it is unknown if the figure has a signiture. Figures neck/head area has been repaired, glue residue visable. Open aperature to figures head, indicating a missing item. Several cracks throughout body, face and feet.

CONDITION REPORT: Crack to the barket on the figures back. Crack to the back of figures head. Repaired area where cockerel is attached to the cockerel. Cracks to the figures right lower leg.

CONDITION REPORT: Small chips to the tips of the vegatable pinial. Cracks to the ivory throughout. Yellowing to the ivory. No major breakages to the exterior ball. No visable breakages to the interior balls, however not clearly visable, and therefore the damage is unknown.

CONDITION REPORT: Three baskets detached and two damaged. Further damage on one baske hanging (hole in wicker effect) Minor hairline crck on robe collum.

CONDITION REPORT: As the bass is stuck to the ivory, it is unknown whether the Okimono is signed or not. Several cracks to the face and head. Pegged sections all require brightening. Repaired damage to the figures left foot. Yellowing to the ivory.
Two Japanese ivory Okimono, Meiji period Modelled as a bijin playing a shamisen dressed in robes, 10cm high, and another of a farmer, 14cm high. (2) CONDITION REPORT: Bijin figure - Discolouration on back, otherwise good second figure. Second figure - restored, glue at joints, some hairline cracks.
