A Granny Takes A Trip man's patchwork blazer, mid 1970s, with black and red 'atom' label, of multi-coloured strips of fabric including printed cottons to satin, wine moiré lapels, chest 96cm, 38in CONDITION REPORT: Good condition- interior lining is slightly discoloured at neckline and has scattering of small stains near hem from red dye transfer. Exterior- colours are good- a few small moth holes to one ivory back stripe, otherwise good.
A woven kashmir style cape, French, circa 1850-60, finely woven with foliate traceries on an ivory wool ground, with buttons woven to shape, coloured fringes; together with an 1830s red wool shawl probably Norwich, folded with tacked down collar to form a cape (2) CONDITION REPORT: Red cape - a few small moth holes and odd small spot stains, overall generally good. Ivory cape - exterior is good, colours are fresh, pink silk lining is worn at neck and silk has discoloured/faded in places.
An embroidered wrapper or bohcha, Istanbul, Ottoman, circa 1830, the ivory muslin ground worked with sinuous C scroll tendrils to the corners, large fruits and flowerheads in shades of terracotta, blue, green and brown, 102 by 93cm See 'Ottoman Embroidery' by Roderick Taylor pp114-115 for an illustration of this piece. It is also used as the frontispiece in 'Textiles of the Islamic World' by John Gillow. Provenance: Roderick Taylor collection CONDITION REPORT: Good condition. Colours are good, fresh and clean appearance. The ground has expertly done patched repairs, the largest area is 17x5cm along an edge. Blue edging line has been re-worked 17cm in this area. Another irregular area approx. 10x5cm, another 14x5cm approx., 3x 1cm holes by one border edge. The repairs are almost invisible they are so well done.

A wool and satin walking dress, late 1870s, in shades of brown, comprising overdress and gilet with goffered trim and ribbons, brown taffeta petticoat; together with a grey satin dress with fringes c.1918; three men's waistcoats 1760-1850; and a quantity of 1920s baby clothes (qty) CONDITION REPORT: · Steel grey satin dress made c.1914-18 from an Edwardian dress - wear to collar, small splits to satin in sleeves · Pink waistcoat - bad perspiration stains at underarms, wear, scuffing generally, poor condition · 1850s ivory damask waistcoat - frayed and worn at hem, wear at underarms, poor condition · 1780 waistcoat - wear at underarms and neck, and rear wool back panel, poor condition · Brown taffeta dress - fabric has been added in below waistband on skirt to make longer, skirt seams have been altered · Overdress - good condition, faint perspiration stains at underarms, matching gilet has 8cm horizontal tear above one pocket
A black quilted silk evening coat, 1930s, with late 19th century Worth label numbered 36441, lightly padded and chainstitched overall with fruits and blossom, deep pleated and smocked collar and goffered full sleeves, bust 86cm, 34in; together with a Japanese embroidered ivory silk evening coat with frogging c.1910 (2) CONDITION REPORT: The label is earlier than the coat. The smocked collar and sleeves however are outstanding - whoever made it! Condition is fresh and good, looks little worn. Japanese coat made for the European market - embroidery is superb, one of the frogging medallions to the chest is missing some of the tassels. Faint damp speckles to the chest and sleeves. Lining is fresh and good, looks little worn.
A 'blonde' bobbin lace stole believed to have belonged to Empress Eugenie, circa 1860, of ivory silk, each end worked with Napoleon III cypher of Imperial crown above an 'N' and bee motifs, 161 by 28cm; and a copy of the original sale invoice (2) This piece was purchased from the Boisgirad & de Heeckeren auction, Paris, part of lot 50, 3.11.1983, Lace from the Collection of Empress Eugenie (also known as Eugénie, comtesse de Teba, nee Eugénia María de Montijo de Guzmán, 1826-1920). CONDITION REPORT: Good condition, minor holes and professional repairs to ground.
A Christian Dior London jewelled evening gown, circa 1965, labelled, numbered 59502, with empire-line bodice, the ivory silk/linen ground applied overall with cabochon medallions and iridescent sequins, bust 92cm, 36in CONDITION REPORT: Faint discolorations, in need of cleaning, ivory silk lining is good, narrow 15cm long discolouration over right shoulder, ground colour of fabric over bodice and midriff areas are more cream tone that the more white tones of the skirt. Beading is magnificent and generally good, no obvious losses. A few sequins are missing at the underarm areas but not hugely noticeable.

Two woven silk stoles, probably Spitalfields, early 19th century, one of pale golden beige with deep borders of poppies cornflowers and wheatears in pastel shades; the other of shot ivory/yellow silk with floral repeat borders in mainly yellow,blue, pink and green, 252 by 62 and 268 by 83cm (2) CONDITION REPORT: Stole with light beige ground: border colours are good, generally good condition, the occasional small stain concealed within the pattern on one end, plain central ground with approx. 4 small brown stains near edges. Stole with yellow ground: shot silk ground is generally good, the occasional small brown spot stain, small splits in edges at border ends, I suspect it has been washed.
An Ossie Clark embroidered crepe 'Stars and Moon' dress, circa 1971, woven black on ivory label, with suede waistband and key-hole bodice, bust 86cm, 34in CONDITION REPORT: Waist 66cm, 26in. Black crepe is generally good, embroidery is bright and good - the odd loose thread. Would benefit from cleaning, has soiling to rear skirt but looks as though it would clean out. Leather waistband lining is detached and needs gluing back in place if so desired. Suede front opening and waistband are soiled also and would benefit from cleaning.
A Christian Dior London ivory gazar bridal gown, 1968, labelled and numbered 47011, with beaded collar and cuffs, the front panel formed from joined sections of gazar - their points converging into a central point at bodice, bust 82cm, 32in CONDITION REPORT: First impression is fresh and good. Faint perspiration stains at underarms, small light brown stain at centre front bodice and another to front right of skirt. Hem is slightly soiled with minor scuffing. Very faint oval watermark below rear zip closure. Beading is good and intact. Hem has been raised 3cm at the back. Bodice has been let out at each side approx. 1cm - minor alterations probably done at time of purchase.
A Jeanne Lafaurie couture embroidered ivory satin sheath, late 1950s, labelled, with integral tulle corset, pleated asymmetric shoulder strap, side slit to hem, embroidered overall with palmettes in ivory mohair, couched gold thread, rhinestone studs, bust approx 81cm, 32in, waist 61cm, 24in CONDITION REPORT: Overall impression is fresh and good, would benefit from cleaning. Embroidery is intact and good with occasional losses of rhinestones and floating threads. Gathered satin needs re-stitching in places at bodice. Edges of satin bodice are soiled. Satin has come unstitched at side zip 7cm long and there is a 3cm tear here also (easily repaired). Interior corset is a bit grubby and breast cups are frayed. Hem has been raised approx. 5cm and is soiled. Dress is unlined.
A finely embroidered ivory silk damask kimono, Japanese, late 19th century, altered for a European woman to wear c.1910, with coral silk tie dyed appliques worked with birds in flight, gilt thread turtles, fruit, mountains and others, linked by couched and embroidered cords and tassels; with remains of a matching silk inner bodice with coral satin sleeves (2) CONDITION REPORT: Colours are good, fabric is generally good, slight rubbing to some of the embroidery in places, inner bodice, the ivory silk has perished at the underarms.

A coat made from a finely embroidered 1860s kashmir shawl, circa 1910-20, embroidered to imitate the tightest kashmiri weave, the ground and elaborate palmettes minutely worked in mainly satin stitch, with blue fringed borders, the coat with single button fastening and ivory silk lining, bust 97cm, 38in CONDITION REPORT: Embroidery is astounding - must have been worked under magnifiers. At first glance it looks woven, the stitches are so fine. Exterior of coat is generally good. 2 crude darned holes to rear right side of skirt, couple more below closure button. Lining is poor condition and very soiled. Gold ribbon to neck is later added.

A woven paisley-design shawl, probably Norwich, circa 1840-50, the ivory wool ground woven with confronting pairs of foliate botehs, with guard borders of larger curling botehs, woven mainly in red and blue, 251 by 123cm CONDITION REPORT: Overall - fair condition, has been professionally conserved. Narrow edges have been re-backed in conservation gauze to re-inforce and protect them on the two long sides. 6 repaired breaks to outer border. 2 small patch repairs to back of shawl and 1 patch 4x9cm to centre of the shawl. 5.5x3.5cm patch to narrow outer border where section is missing. Top side: general appearance is good with occasional light brown discolourations, slightly faded overall in comparison to the back, centre front area of thinning and 0.8x2.5cm sections missing hence patch described above.
A gentleman's embroidered and sequined waistcoat, circa 1780-90, of ivory silk the edges finely embroidered with buds and blossom, double breasted with wide lapels, backed in coarse linen, chest approx 97cm, 38in CONDITION REPORT: Stain below left pocket. Extra linen panels have been inset into the waistcoat sides to widen, front panels have damp spots especially over the shoulder area, faint perspiration stains, front panels have a slightly soiled appearance generally. Stains to collar. Silk has somewhat crumpled appearance. Embroidery is good
A beaded and embroidered couture ivory chiffon bridal or presentation tunic-dress, circa 1928, adorned with couched love knots, rhinestones, floss silk and bugle beaded bands, bust approx 92cm, 36in; together with an ivory chiffon and silver lace edged trained with large pearl and silver beaded bow; and a quantity of lingerie c.1900-20 (qty) CONDITION REPORT: Dress: faint champagne stain to back right neck-bodice area, dress would have been worn with a silk underslip which is missing, embroidery and beading are good, slight tarnishing to love-knots on shoulders. Train: it is non-matching with the dress, though similar colours and dress has pres-studs to attach. Gold lace and pearl bead embroidery is generally good but numerous scattered small holes and 8x6cm L-shaped tear. Lingerie: fair/poor condition, silk nightie has tear at left underarm, matching knickers have a rip rear waist centre back, monogrammed split drawers have a few holes and repairs, lace trim has been removed from neck edge of bed cape.
