A George II silver coffee pot, by Peter Archambo II & Peter Meure, London 1756, of baluster form with vase finial, reeded spout, raised on a spreading foot, ivory double scroll handle, height 21 cm, weight 21 oz. Peter Archambo's Huguenot father, Peter I, was a contemporary of Paul de Lamerie; his most important client being the 2nd Earl of Warrington whom he made an extensive collection of silver. Peter II was apprenticed to Lamerie in December 1938 and made Free in 1747, when he entered into a partnership with his cousin Meure at the same address as his father, the Golden Cup, Coventry Street. He died in 1768 and Meure continued on his own.
