A pair of Royal Worcester blush ivory small ewers - pattern no. 1260, puce printed marks with date code for 1903 and 1905, painted with sprays of flowers, 15.7 cm high; together with a Davenport Imari decorated porcelain and silver plated six division toast rack, red printed factory mark, 16 cm long. (3)* Condition: RW - good condition, with just minor gilt wear. Toast rack - very small firing crack to one end of the base and some scratches to glaze. Some gilt wear. One end divider detached at one end.

A collection of 19th century gold and coral jewellery - contained in a fine quality jewellery box by Sampson Mordan of London, possibly Laburnum veneer, the lid with segmented radial veneers and a central oval, with ebony and silver banding to the lid and front and silvered metal lock and piano hinge, the pink and ivory silk lined interior with upper lift-out tray containing a quantity of coral jewellery, some mounted in yellow gold, including a multi-strand choker necklace, white and pink coral multi-strand choker, two brooches, a bracelet clasp, earrings, cufflinks etc., some pieces with faults, plus loose beads, small sections of polished coral etc., the box 38 x 28 x 8 cm, with two keys.* Condition: The box is completely original and hasn’t been subject to restoration. The surface polish has started breaking down to the front half of the lid and the front panel (see photos attached) and there is a slight shrinkage crack showing the veneer to the back right of the lid (again, see photo). Otherwise it is in good condition and has no losses to the veneers or banding. The lid closes flush and the interior is also in good condition overall.

Contax II Ivory - das "Erstmodell" von 1947Carl Zeiss, Jena. Contax II Nr. 27908, mit Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar 2/5 cm T Nr. 3104703. Von allen bisher bekannten Contax-Ivory-Kameras (Nr. 27917/3107140, 27927/3104794, 27949/3104753, 27960/3104785, 27965/3104755 und aus dem Kuc-Buch 279??/ 3104774) ist dies sowohl von der Kamera wie von der Optik die früheste Nummer. Voll funktionstüchtig, auch der Selbstauslöser, Filtergewinde mit Delle, nach 1947 auf der Frontseite synchronisiert. - Zur Authentizität: Der Lack (vermutlich für medizinische Geräte) ist an einigen Stellen nicht perfekt aufgetragen und zeigt eine leichte Reliefwirkung - ein typisches Merkmal eines noch nicht vollständigen Durchrührens einer frisch geöffneten Lackdose und/oder der Entfettung der unverchromten (!) Messing-Gehäusekappen. In der materialkritischen Nachkriegszeit unter den allzu strengen Augen der russischen Besatzungsoffiziere wurde aber eine Kamera nicht so schnell als II. Wahl deklassiert, und so kam dieser erste Lackmuster-Prototyp als erste aller Contax Ivorys in den Testbetrieb zur Erprobung. The paint (probably intended for medical tools) displays scattered imperfections and a slight wrinkling, a typical feature of the freshly opened paint not being thoroughly stirred and/or the non-chrome-plated (!) brass housing caps not being degreased. With the material shortages of the post-war period, a camera was not so quickly reclassified as sub-quality, thus this first paint sample prototype may have been amongst the first of the Contax ivory-colored camera to have been put into test operation. NAVAL INTEREST; A George V silver tortoiseshell presentation casket, by Charles & Richard Comyns, London 1919, of shaped oval form, the lid inlaid with a depiction of H.M.S Enterprise, on four crown-topped column feet, the body engraved 'SOUVENIR OF LAUNCH H.M.S "ENTERPRISE" CLYDEBANK 23rd DEC R 1919.' the silk-lined interior containing a 9ct gold axe head and pommel, by Robert Stewart, Glasgow 1919, inscribed 'THIS AXE USED IN LAUNCHING H.M.S "ENTERPRISE" 23.12.1919', 23 x 13 x 8cm, the axe head and pommel weighing 44gms TThe H.M.S Enterprise (D52) was the 14th ship to carry the name Enterprise and was one of two Emerald-light cruisers built for the Royal Navy. She was built by John Brown & Company of Clydebank, one of the most highly regarded shipbuilding companies in the world at the time. Designed during WWI for speed, Enterprise and her sister HMS Emerald remained the fastest British cruisers in service at the outbreak of WWII.The rugby team from the HMS Enterprise departed for a tour of Kenya and Uganda, playing Kitale RFC, Nakuru RFC, the Mombasa Sports Club, and other teams. Harold E. Stevens, chaplain of the HMS Enterprise and tour manager, offered – on behalf of the ships company – a silver trophy to be awarded annually to the winners of an Inter-district Championship. Rugby Union was a particularly amateur affair, especially in Kenya, so the trophy was refused. HMS Enterprise left Mombasa, sailing to Tanga, Dar Es Salaam and Zanzibar, playing matches in these ports, completing the first rugby tour of all three African Great Lakes nations by a Royal Naval vessel.She then began to turn home via Aden, yet soon into the voyage, Enterprise received an order to pick up the Prince of Wales from Dar es Salaam and take him to Brindisi with haste. King George V was gravely ill, and it was the duty of Enterprise to escort him to Brindisi. She made the record passage of 4.087 miles in only eight days. The prince then travelled to Bolougne via train and arrived at Buckingham Palace nine days after leaving Dar Es Salaam.During this voyage, a silver goblet was delivered to the headquarters of the Rugby Football Union of Kenya. The officers and crew of Enterprise had sent this inscribed trophy to the RFUK, who wrote of their thanks and detailed that they were to award it annually to the winners of an Inter-District championship. The cup has become key to rugby competition within the African Great Lakes and has been played for every year bar the war years and 1987.
