Velvety wool and rich palette.

Yomut Turkmen ensi, Turkmenistan, early 20th century, 5ft. 2in. X 4ft. 11in. 1.58m. X 1.50m. Some wear in places and some colour run; fraying to selvedges; losses to top end. The four panels of gush motifs divided by central cross motif within an ivory inner border and outer ivory frame of ovadan (curled leaf) motif on three sides diminishing into a narrow ivory band of stepped medallions at the base. The elem panel at the top end with a variation of kelle motifs.

Soft palette. Medium handle.
