A most attractive shaded pale blue field with small ivory herati design centre medallion and quarter spandrels; ivory floral main border and terracotta 'boteh' guards.
North west Persian runner, Hamadan area, circa 1920s, 14ft. 3in. X 3ft. 4in. 4.34m. X 1.02m. Selvedges rebound. Mid-blue field with large medallion design, the medallions and field woven with the herati design, within a wide ivory main border. Note the two tiny human figures taking shelter under the lower edge of the top ivory medallion.
Yomut 3 x 3 gul chuval face, Turkmenistan, early 20th century, 2ft. 10in. X 3ft. 11in. 0.86m. X 1.20m. Some wear in places with small patches in places; wear to selvedges. The guls divided by simple chemche motifs; trellised medallion main border and narrow ivory guards of miniature hooked medallions; arrowhead stripe to top elem; plain dark brown lower elem. Velvety wool and rich palette.

Dark red step-sided field with dark blue triple pole medallion and dark blue frame to the field. All over birds, animals and a variety of filler ornaments; ivory octagons in the spandrels; multiple borders. Pale blue and ivory details. Lustrous wool; good pile and relatively soft handle.
Kazak inscribed three-medallion rug, south west Caucasus, 20th century, 7ft. 2in. x 5ft. 1in. 2.18m. x 1.55m. Small hole in top medallion. The dark red field woven '19641' (?) at the top end of the field. The stepped medallions in dark blue and bottle green with contrast outlining; narrow ivory trailing floral main border; inner green border of flowerheads. Lustrous wool; dark, intense palette; soft handle.

Yomut Turkmen ensi, Turkmenistan, early 20th century, 5ft. 2in. X 4ft. 11in. 1.58m. X 1.50m. Some wear in places and some colour run; fraying to selvedges; losses to top end. The four panels of gush motifs divided by central cross motif within an ivory inner border and outer ivory frame of ovadan (curled leaf) motif on three sides diminishing into a narrow ivory band of stepped medallions at the base. The elem panel at the top end with a variation of kelle motifs.
Luri rug, Fars, south west Persia, early 20th century, 8ft. 3in. X 5ft. 2in. 2.51m. X 1.58m. Overall wear with corrosion to dark brown; some small crease marks; flatweave to lower end. Re-selvedged. Triple hooked medallions outlined in ivory with variously coloured half medallions extending out of the field; main border of multi-coloured diagonal leaf tree form; ivory outer vine border ; pale blue rosette inner guard. Soft palette. Medium handle.
