A good late 19th Century bone and ivory quayside model of the Orient Steamship Scott, the fully detailed deck with flying bridge and figures of passengers and crew on a plank and pinned hull on a mirrored waterline base, the ship moored to a wooden model quayside with hand painted ivory figures of passengers and onlookers, contained within carved and glazed mahogany case, 57cm x 26cm x 27cm. *Notes - Named Scott to the bow and Orient to the stern, this is most probably the Orient, though under a French flag she appears to be flying the colours for P McAllum & Sons Ltd.
A set of twelve George III silver and ivory dessert knives and forks in a cutlery case, the silver by Moses Brent, London 1792 (marked to knife blades only), the green stained handles with blackened crests, the earlier shagreen case with brass mounts, the sloping lid revealing the original velvet lined fitted interior, on brass dome feet, 25cm (9 3/4in) high. The crest of WYATT of Essex and of Kent.

An open book is recorded as a crest for the Scottish families: DALGLEISH, DUNBAR, FORBES, GARDEN, GRANT, HAMILTON, MENZIES, POLLOCK, ROUE, UMPHREY and WARNER.In this case the open book is the crest of the Grants of Monymusk, the vendor`s mother was the daughter of Sir Francis Grant, 10th Baronet.

[Medical interest] A set of three Victorian tracheotomy tubes, stamped ‘Silver’, with oval tops, 5.5cm to 4.8cm long, in a fitted black leather covered case with an ivory handled scalpel, stamped ‘Mappin & Co 121 New St Birmingham’, the case 17cm (6 3/4in) long. John Mappin was born in London in 1796. He became a surgical instrument maker in Birmingham. He was mentioned in the London Gazette of 19th February 1867 as still working as a surgical instrument and truss maker. He died in 1881 aged 85.
