Mills, the former collector of the postcards, most of the postcards with captions such as 'Country Club, Shanghai' & 'Ming Tombs, Nanking', both by Denniston and Sullivan, and "Mohamedan and Chinese Temples, Singapore', each postcard with dedication to Miss Jane Drummond MacDonald by Mr Mills on the reverse, most of the postcards with an original postage stamp from Hong Kong, the album cover inlaid in mother-of-pearl and ivory with a cockerel and a hen amongst flowering chrysanthemum, fitted Japanese wooden boxalbum 27.5cm high, 36cm wideProvenance:Sent by A. Mills (policeman in Hong Kong, whose portrait is on the second page of the album) to Jane Drummond MacDonald (1888-1950s) around 1908; thence by direct family descent.

A Chinese ivory bowl with detachable metal liner, decorated on the exterior with peaches, emblematic of Shoulao, and finger-citron, emblematic of The Buddha, 11.5 cm diameter, 18th/19th Century. Provenance: The Property of a Lady, inherited from her Great Aunt. Thought to have been purchased prior to the Second World War, perhaps circa 1937. Please note that there are some areas of damage or deterioration to this bowl; this includes a circular hole in the base and areas of age cracking on the base and side.
