A Japanese ivory figure, Meiji period, of a standing man holding a dove on his left hand and with a basket by his feet, signed, 18cm high; another of an elderly man with a child on his back, signed, 19.5cm high; and a third of an elderly man with a bag and a lantern hanging from his waist, signed, 19cm high (3).
A pair of Japanese carved wood and ivory figures, Meiji period, in the form of a man and a woman, each with ivory head, hands and feet, the wood inset with mother of pearl motifs, on shaped rectangular plinths with gilt inlay; he with a parcel on his back and double gourd vessel in one hand, she dressed in a kimono with sword protruding from her waistband, both with inscribed character mark on mother of pearl panel (2) 30cm high.
A Chinese octagonal lacquer workbox, 19th century, the cover decorated with a scene of figures in a courtyard, surrounded by a dragon border, lifting to reveal a fitted interior, containing a number of ivory sewing accessories, above further drawer, on paw feet (handles and two feet lacking) 36cm wide.
THOMAS HARGREAVES (1775-1846). HALF LENGTH PORTRAIT MINIATURE OF SIR WILLIAM HOTHAM. dressed in Naval uniform in a rectangular ebonised and cast brass mounted frame, watercolour on ivory 10cm x 7.5cm. Note; A native of Liverpool Hargreaves was assistant and pupil of Sir Thomas Lawrence from 1793 after Lawrence had seen one of his portrait miniatures. He exhibited at the Liverpool Academy, The Society of British Artists and at the Royal Academy.
A large Zeigler carpet, the ivory field with allover pattern of scrolling floral vine and palmettes, within rust red abstract vine border between ivory and olive bands 600cm x 400cm. Provenance; The Dukes of Hamilton, Hamilton Palace, Hamilton, South Lanarkshire and Lennoxlove House, Haddington, East Lothian. Note; This lot is from Lennoxlove House in East Lothian, property of the present Duke of Hamilton. The origins of the house go back to the 1300s and it is of huge importance in Scottish history due to its architecture, its owners associations with the Royal Stuarts and its furnishings and family portraits. The house only came into the ownership of the 14th Duke of Hamilton in 1946 and an extensive programme of redecoration was later initiated under aegis of John Fowler. The present lot was moved into Lennoxlove after 1946 and was originally at Hamilton Palace, Hamilton. The lot is sold on behalf of The Lennoxlove Trust, a registered charity set up to provide funds for the preservation of the fabric of this historic place; three tapestries towards this fund were sold in these rooms on 5th December last year.

An early 20th Century ivory toned bridal gown with bone corsage and machine floral lace, a large flounce of late 19th Century Irish bobbin appliqué, a similar machine lace flounce, an early 20th Century starched white cotton maid's pinafore, the top with pulled thread design of bees and floral panel, together with a large collection of domestic aprons and caps.
