Samuel Andrews (Irish c.1767-1807)/Officer in a Blue Coat/portrait miniature/initialled and dated 1796/watercolour on ivory, 6cm x 5cm/in a yellow metal frame with hair set panel within blue enamel border to reverse/Note: Samuel Andrews arrived in India in 1791 and in 1795 moved to the house previously occupied by the miniature painter John Smart (1741-1811). John Smart had a huge influence on Andrews and many of their works relate to each other/Lot contains antique ivory, which may be subject to export restrictions Condition Report: This miniature is initialled and dated to the centre right of the imageThe image is good apart from rubbing to the rim of his blue coat, The enamel back is cracked.

1920s English School oval portrait on ivory - Mrs Audrey May Steward wearing an evening dress and paste jewellery, in oval gilt metal and blue enamel frame, in original fitted velvet and silk-lined leather case, 7.5cm x 6cm. Included in this lot are the paste set earrings, necklace and bracelet worn in the miniature, together with a hand-coloured photographic portrait by Van Dyk of London, in glazed frame and matching black and white photograph in silver frame.N.B. Lid with horizontal splits and some small associated losses and glue repairs. A few further small losses to pierced work, front panel has diagonal splits and small losses, back panel likewise, some damage, elsewhere minor damage, staining.
