A Japanese Meiji period carved ivory figure group of three men, one standing on the back of another kneeling on the ground, beside a large mallet, on shaped circular base, marked with three scratched and inked flower heads to base, height 7cm. CONDITION REPORT: There is something missing from the right hand of the standing, elderly man. General surface dirt to incised parts commensurate with age. The right hand of man standing is possibly reglued.
A Japanese Meiji period Shibayama ivory tusk carving of seven Japanese Gods of luck and fortune (Shichi Fukujin) in the treasure ship Takarabune, with mother of pearl decoration and inked details, with incised two character marked signature to underneath, length 39 cm (af), on hard wooden stand carved with waves. CONDITION REPORT: The oar held by one of the Gods at the end of the boat is broken off but part of it is present, area of restoration to the front of the boat (possibly broken off and reglued), some natural splits and areas of surface dirt. Please refer to the further images, there are several stones missing, and several figures look to be missing something in their hands.
A group of novelty pin cushions comprising a bone pail with swing handle, diameter 3.5cm, a double ended Mauchline Ware example decorated with The Holborn Viaduct, length 4.5cm, a glass example in the form of a teapot, a teapot shaped composite example and six others (10) CONDITION REPORT: Teapot did not start life as a pin cushion. Vegetable ivory example also composite, with pad loose to basket and splits. Mauchline Ware example good condition.
EARLY 19TH CENTURY ENGLISH SCHOOL; a rectangular portrait miniature depicting a young woman seated before a tree, wearing a lace adorned pink bodice, blue shawl and holding a basket of flowers, painted on ivory, unsigned, 13 x 10cm, framed and glazed. CONDITION REPORT: Some twisting and bowing of the ivory although this has not damaged the painting. The frame has been damaged and restored in places .Please see additional images.
Japanese Meiji period carved ivory sectional okimono figure group of a man playing a drum and a further musician with incised inked detailed decoration, and signature underneath the shaped naturalistic base, height 13.5cm (af), on associated wooden plinth. CONDITION REPORT: Blown instrument is missing from hands of the other standing musician, general surface dirt commensurate with age and some natural splits to ivory, also the figure of standing musician is a little unstable and so is the drum.
A late 19th century rosewood and inlaid chiffonier base, the central bowfronted section above simulated malachite inlaid frieze, twin ivory and satinwood inlaid panels, flanked by mirrored similar side panels, each beneath a drawer with shaped platform and scrolling supports, width 138cm. CONDITION REPORT: Clearly missing the upper section and you can see the outlines where this would have been. Quite a dry finish throughout. Plug hole repairs to the top. Several points of inlay are missing. Overall some knocks to the raised parts of the legs and feet. Requires some TLC.
JOSEF LORENZL; an Art Deco cold painted bronze and ivory figure of a female with right leg raised on a green and black onyx base, signed, height 21.25cm. CONDITION REPORT: A couple of natural flaws acting as fine cracks to her head, glue residue where the head has been glued to the body but this is not damage, just where is has come loose at some stage. Lightly rubbed finish to the top of her coat. Left hand has been broken from her arm and repaired but is present, some rubbing to the raised areas as you would expect, light pitting in parts, small chip to the onyx base.
A Chinese ivory puzzle ball carved with numerous dragons amongst clouds, diameter approx. 6cm, on stand with figural stem on circular base (af), total height 26cm. CONDITION REPORT: Split to cylindrical decoration of the stem and also the upper part needs to be glued. There looks to be 10 layers the second of which is split. A few very minor frits to decoration.
