A fine quality silver gilt presentation marmeluke sword, makers initials SH, Birmingham, 1818, retailed by Mackay and Cunningham Edinburgh, the blade with blue and gilt presentation inscription, list of subscribers names (indistinct but two may be C. French and F Murray?) and dated 1818 with Royal cipher. (There is a number partly visible with the upper garter type belt - possibly 'The 94th'?) The crosspiece chased with foliage, ivory grip with yellow metal pique work, bullion dress knot, the scabbard mounts engraved with Britannia, trophy of arms, thistle, lion, flowers and 'centurion', suspension loops each in the form of a laurel wreath, sword 90cm. History: The vendor purchased a storage building in Shrewsbury in 1972 and this sword, among other items, came with the acquisition, simply lying on the storage shelves. Here the sword remained until the vendors sold the building many years later when it was removed and stored in a loft.Condition: The sword is very grubby throughout. The blade has various levels of rusting throughout the length. The blue and gilt decoration on the blade is partly visible although it is very hard to read / obscured. The fish skin panels to the scabbard are perished / lacking. The scabbard is slightly bent. Much of the gilt surface to the silver appears to be fair. There are hall marks to the top of the scabbard and the back of the crosspiece. Attention will be needed. (At fault)

A 19th century brass fishing reel, the 9.5cm diameter reel with an ivory handle and engraved for 'Henry Shaw, High St, Salop' with additional engraved coat of arms and overlaid initials 'R.C.H' with 'Geoffrey' engraved within the H Henry Shaw, taxidermist and ornithologist is listed as working in Shrewsbury in the mid 19th century. An early 20th century Indian ivory inlaid hard wood octagonal occasional table, removable top with folding base, of Moorish design, 59cm H x 51cm W (at fault) and an oak square occasional table with carved top (2) CONDITION REPORT: The top of the inlaid table is sun faded and there are sections of the inlay lacking. The inlay to the centre appears a little proud / loose - the wood appears to have shrunk a little. Some inlay lacking to the edge and odd knock etc. The mouldings to the underside of the lid may have been re-attached. Hinges rusty. Grubby throughout with age wear patina but overall fair.
