Superb all over design on a dusky mid-blue field; wide light terracotta main border within green/gold and ivory floral guards and a wider outer dusky mid-blue plain border. A very pretty carpet with close clipped velvety wool and medium handle.

Mid-blue field with all over lattice and star medallion design; curiously at the top end of the rug the star motifs become cruciform motifs; narrow ivory main border. Soft handle.

The wide ivory bands woven with step-sided medallions divided by two cross motifs, one above the other, divided by plain bands and narrow triangle bands. An impressive kelim of soft palette. An almost identical kelim is illustrated Bennett, I. Op. Cit. P. 338, pl. 450; others may be found in MacDonald, B. Tribal Rugs. Areas of old moth damage in places and some corrosion to dark brown; crease mark, 18in. 46cm. long left side centre; small crease mark lower end right side. Lustrous wool and rich palette. Central ivory medallion flanked by two green ground medallions, each with hooked medallions within on a rich red ground; ivory and mid-blue border. See Bennett, I. Op. Cit. Slight wear in places; few crease marks; small hole lower right corner main border; small repair to second medallion left side; slight losses to flatweave ends. Dark blue field with typical central column of hooked diamond shape motifs; various filler ornaments including striped animals; ivory main border; light terracotta and pale green guards. Bordjalou Kazak rug, south west Caucasus, late 19th/early 20th century, 7ft. 8in. X 5ft. 2.34m. X 1.52m. Slight wear in places with corrosion to dark brown. A few small crease marks to sides. Slight unravelling to braided finish at top end in one place. Attractive blue/green field with three central hooked medallions; ivory hooked motif main border within light terracotta and pale blue/green running dog guards. Cf. Bennett, I. Op. Cit. Pp. Pp. 56-57; pl. 39. For similar typical example. Lustrous wool with exceptional palette; soft handle.
Luri triple medallion long rug, Fars province, south west Persia, late 19th/early 20th century, 9ft. 1in. X 4ft. 2.77m. X 1.22m. Overall wear; slight loss to brocaded bands at top end; losses and damage to brocaded bands of lower end. Lozenge shape dark blue field with three terracotta hooked medallions with pale green inner medallions; pale blue spandrels; Note the two tribesmen at the top of the field and the two tribesmen at the lower end, all in striped ceremonial apparel, surrounded by a variety of small filler ornaments; ivory rosette and leaf main border; inner reciprocal ram's horn guard of yellow and terracotta; each end with narrow chequered brocaded ends in brown and white flanking a terracotta and pale green brocaded stripe. Reddish/dark brown wefts. The glorious palette of this pretty rug is evident verso. Cf. Opie, J. Tribal Rugs, pp. 128, pl. 7.28. and Opie, J. Tribal Rugs of Southern Persia, pp 132-133 for another example with similarities to our piece., including the tribesmen and the chequered ends.

Ivory field filled with all over floral sprays, tiny animals and various other filler ornaments; light red spandrels. cf. Opie, J. Tribal Rugs, p. 217, pl. 12.7 for an Afshar rug with very similar design in the spandrels and up each long side of the central diamond shape medallion which in the published example is dark blue.
