Floral machine lace cover appears undamaged. Shaft is approx. 59 cm long. Sash: approx. 23 cm wide,2.76 m long excluding 12 cm fringe. Slightly grubby. Lace scarf approx. 1.45m long, 11 cm wide. Flounce approx. 142 cm long x13 cm wide.
Mid-19th Century Chinese Canton Black and Gold Lacquer Ivory Faces Fan, one side depicting a gathering of many robed gentlemen, some carrying fans, one arriving on a white horse, the verso decorated with a later gathering of ladies and gentlemen, also carrying fans, the fan gorge intricately lacquered with a scene of buildings, figures and auspicious symbols, contained in original black and gold lacquer box with blue silk lining painted with flowers and birds, bearing retailed label of Lee Ching, Canton (lock to case defective); together with a Mid-19th Century Canton Fan, decorated with black and gold lacquer and ivory faces, depicting served refreshments and music being played at a social gathering, the double paper leaf in plain ruby red; and a Mid-Late 19th Century Large Bone Brisé Fan, featuring a regular design, replacement ribbon (3)Chinese Canton fan - double paper leaf, nicks to top of all folds, several split folds have received some tape restoration, folds generally rubbed, lacquer to sticks is clean and in good order, lacquer on box slightly chipped to corners and edges. Canton fan - unusual colouration to the seam on the leaf, being of brighter and more pastel colours than on the first fan, nicks to the top of each fold, some rubbing on the fold, verso - the leaf has received some crude restoration with tape and paint. Bone - nineteen sticks, slightly warped.
