A PAIR OF CHINESE IVORY `QUAIL` BOXES and covers, each naturalistically hollowed and carved with a resting quail, the body and wings forming the cover, the head with wood inlaid eyes, looking up with a pierced open claw feet, the underside of the box carved in relief with a flowering millet stem around the legs and claws, hollowed with a gourd shaped aperture, on inlaid wood stands, 18th/19th Century, 5 1/2" (13.25cm).
