19TH CENTURY - A LIGHT CAVALRY OFFICER'S SABRE early 19th century, by Runkel of Solingen, with a fullered curved blade etched with 'GR' royal cypher below crown and trophies of war, maker marked to back-edge, with a brass hilt, lion's head pommel and ivory grip, lacking scabbard, 96cm overall.
A circa 1900 Continental patinated bronze figural lamp of a Japanese dancing girl with fan, ivory fan, arms and head with original tasselled lacework decorated shade, 67 cm high CONDITION REPORTS The lamp shade is quite deteriorated and torn, lamp itself has some wear, scuffs and tarnish, and some wear to the girl's head and face, some damage and losses including hand and one of the fans broken off and with some chips, but this is present, there is also another small section broken off and present (please see photos), one hand loose, branch effect support is slightly wobbly on the base, quite a lot of wear and rubbing to the girl's hair and black has worn away in this area, there has been a repair where the bulb fittings fits the finial at the end of the branch support.
An early 20th Century carved ivory and red stained ivory chess set in the Staunton style, king 9 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Wear, scuffs, yellowing. Rubbing and losses to the red decoration. Various splits including to Kings, Castles, Knights, Queens etc. The splitting is more pronounced to the white chess pieces. One of of the red pawns is of a more chunky design and of a different colour red so possibly associated. Some have been glued, and some bases have separated.
A Victorian carved ivory billiard ball, and a red stained Victorian ivory billiard ball (2) CONDITION REPORTS Both with wear and scuff to surfaces. Red ball with rubbing to red staining, some cracks and bruises. White ball with some slight pinkish staining, some yellowing, various discoloured bruises and cracks. (Please see photos for examples)
A Victorian carved ivory handled seal as a hand holding a seal with carved hardstone facia, 8.2 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Some light general wear and scuffs, some yellowing to the ivory, a few black marks and dirt including a small black mark/blemish to the finial area (which forms the cuff/sleeve to the hand), some tarnish to the metal mounts and some small knocks and dents to metal mounts.
A 19th Century Japanese carved ivory cased katana, the handle and scabbard decorated with figural scenes, signed on medallion to end of scabbard, blade 52 cm long, 75 cm long overall CONDITION REPORTS Overall with some wear and scuffs, some yellowing to the ivory, blade with some wear and tarnish, scabbard has been made in sections and sections are coming apart, one of the loops broken off and been re-glued, some splits to the banding between the ivory sections, generally a few small splits and blemishes to ivory.
A 19th Century Japanese carved ivory cased katana, the handle and scabbard decorated with figural scenes interspersed by rings of exotic birds and flowers, blade 62.5 cm long, 92 cm long overall CONDITION REPORTS Iron tang beneath the grip has some damage and losses, and rusting (please see photos), grip is loose and has quite a lot of glue, wooden lining to scabbard is split and taped and loose, blade has some wear and tarnish and is approx. 62 cm long, ivory casing is made in sections and sections have separated and been re-glued and are not quite straight, generally with some wear, scuffs and splits, sections currently fairly loose/unattached.
A pair of 19th Century Chinese carved ivory wrist rests representative of day and night, one mirroring the other, each with three scenes of figures before pagodas amongst trees, each carved with figures by windows verso, 30 cm long CONDITION REPORTS Overall with some yellowing, wear and dirt, a few small areas of loss to the carved ivory to one of the rests - to the pierced decoration to the buildings, other rest has an area of damage/re-gluing to one edge (please see photos) and a small chip and blemish to the lower edge of the carved scene, but otherwise appear in reasonably good condition
A 19th Century Japanese Meiji period carved ivory panel of slightly curved form depicting a hunting party with quarry and deity hunters amongst the clouds looking on, 34 cm x 12 cm CONDITION REPORTS Block supports to the back have been re-glued. Ivory generally has some yellowing and discolouration and dirt. A few chips and a few areas of loss to the carved decoration but overall appears in reasonably good condition.
