A George V silver and ivory trowel and a George V silver-mounted ivory mallet, the trowel maker's mark poorly stuck, probably J F For James Fenton and Co., Birmingham, 1931, the mallet stamped 'Silver', circa 1931, the trowel of typical form and with turned ivory handle, the back of the blade engraved with an inscription, the blade applied with an enamelled depiction of the coat-of-arms of Bridlington, the mallet of typical form, with turned ivory handle, applied with a silver plaque with ribbon-tied reeded border, the case 38.5cm long, the trowel 34cm long The inscription reads 'Presented to Aldeman Henry Harker, J.P., C.C. Mayor of Bridlington 1929-30, 1930-31 on the laying by him of the Foundation Stone of the Town Hall, Bridlington 24th September 1931' Provenance: Presented to Alderman Henry Harker on his laying the foundation stone of the Town Hall, Bridlington, and by descent.
