All boxes are complete, The Mustang box is graded playwear to excellent with a surface tear mark to one corner of an end flap and also to surface of one striker side, plus small writing to one face, the Pontiac box is near mint with very minor use to one end flap. Entsprechender, zweitüriger Aufsatz, flankiert von flachen Pilastern mit korinthischen Kapitellen. Innen verspiegelte Nische, begleitet von kleinen Schubfächern sowie breites Fach mit stilisierter Landschaftsdarstellung auf Papierauskleidung. Geschweift ansteigendes Profilgesims mit gesprengtem Giebel sowie podestförmigem oberen Abschluss. Flächendeckend breit gerahmte Furnierfelder sowie schauseitig großflächig angelegte Intarsienbilder aus Parklandschaften mit Grotten- und Ruinenarchitektur, Schäferszenerien, Adlern und Draperiewerk sowie Rocaillen, Muschelwerk und Blüten. Vollplastische, ausdrucksvoll charakterisierende, wohl um 1920 entstandene Darstellung des einträchtig miteinander spazierenden Paares; der Herr mit Holzschuhen, Zylinder und Regenschirm, die Frau in bodenlangem Rock, langem gefüttertem Umhang und Haube. Becquerel studierte an der École des Beaux-Arts in Paris bei Hector Lemaire und Prosper Lecourtier. Seine meist von Edmond Etling und Max Le Verrier ausgeführten, oft mit Elfenbein kombinierten Bronzen und Chryselephantine-Figuren stellte er seit 1914 im Salon aus. Feine Louis XVI-Goldtabatiere à Deux CouleursGelb- und Rotgold. Ovale Form. Boden, Wandung und scharnierter Deckel flächendeckend mit reich guillochierten Netzstrukturen umzogen. Kassettenähnliche Gliederung aus reliefplastischem Perlband- und Blütenkelchdekor. Auf dem Deckel ein hochovales, von stilisiertem Blattkranz gefasstes Miniaturporträt hinter Glas mit dem Brustbildnis einer Rokokodame mit gepudertem, hochtoupiertem Haar und edlem eisgrau- und blaufarbenem Kleid. Temperamalerei auf Elfenbein. Gest. mit Hanauer Prestigemarken in der Art französischer Beschaumarken, wie die des Pariser Pächters Julien Alaterre. Meister wohl Esaias Fernau (tätig ab ca. 1762). Gew. 185 g. H. 3,3 cm. 8,3 cm x 6,2 cm. CITES-Bescheinigung liegt vor.Provenienz: aus der über Generationen gewachsenen und bedeutenden Sammlung der Frankfurter Bankiersfamilie von Bethmann.Diese Tabatiere ist ein typisches Beispiel für die im Stil der Pariser sowie auch der Schweizer Goldschmiede hergestellten Golddosen des 18. Jhs.; Paris galt in dieser Zeit als das europäische Goldschmiede-Zentrum. och auch Hanau entwickelte sich in den 1760ern, u .a. durch den Einfluss der französischen Goldschmiedekunst in Europa und durch eine Vielzahl zugezogener Goldschmiede hugenottischer Herkunft zu einer bedeutenden Produktionsstätte für Gold-Tabatieren und konnte mit der hohen Qualität und dem feinen Design Frankreichs mithalten. Werke der Hanauer Goldschmiede befinden sich heute in namhaften Museen wie dem Metropolitan Museum in New York, dem Musée Cognac-Jay in Paris oder der Fürstlichen Schatzkammer Thurn und Taxis in Regensburg. Die auf dieser Tabatiere befindliche Herstellermarke "EC" unter Lilie und Krone ist von Lorenz Seelig in seinem 2015 im Silver Society of Canada Journal (S. 45, 46, Fig. 50) veröffentlichten Artikel "Eighteenth Century Hanau Gold Boxes" abgebildet und wird dort dem Hanauer Bijoutier, Esaias Fernau ("Esaias et Compagnie") zugeschrieben. Fernau war ab ca. 1762 tätig und arbeitete mit verschiedenen Partnern wie z. B. mit Daniel Marchand oder dem Emailleur Friedrich Wagenfuehrer zusammen. Eine Fernau zugeschriebene Tabatiere befindet sich u. a. im Louvre in Paris, Inv.-Nr. OA 2173.A fine German Louis XVI gold snuff box probably by Esaias Fernau (active since 1762) with miniature portrait on ivory. Hanauer prestige marks in the manner of French hallmarks. Master´s mark. A walrus ivory hilted dagger,Qajar, Iran, 19th century,The double fullered curved blade engraved with a feline pouncing on a deer amidst leafy sprigs to its forte, the hilt with an enthroned ruler within a lobed medallions against an hatched field, the blade faintly watered, the hilt stained to one side, the wooden sheath clothed in red, with walrus ivory bulbous finial,40cm. longCondition Report: The blade is in fair condition. It show corrosion to its forte and along its edge. The tip is sharp but heavily corroded. The fullers are stained, lightly corroded. The blade will require further. The hilt is stained light to dark brown to one side. The pommel shows the core of the tusk. It maybe that an applied decorative device is now lacking.The cloth applied tot he sheath is torn and stained. The finial is present and in good condition albeit stained.

A carved walrus ivory hilted curved and double edged dagger (jambiyya),Qajar Iran, 19th century and later,The hilt engraved with a young man in European dress holding a musket, a register with cherub-like figure above, a register with a pseudo-calligraphic medallion against a field with a bird taking flight among floral sprays, the reverse with a young maiden asleep under a tree, cartouches inscribed with Persian verses in nasta'liq script above and below, the side applied with possibly later turquoise or turquoise like pearls inlaid copper alloy plaques, the blade with single raised fuller, the pommel with small knop,36cm. longCondition Report: this lot presents as clean overall. The blade is pitted and corroded. Its edges and tip are sharp. It would require further attention. The hilt is in very good condition. The possibly added later plaques have corroded in dark brown to black. One plaque is lacking two inlays.
