Japanese carved ivory group, two figures, one holding a vase with trailing plant. (Damage to base) raised on a hardwood stand. 16cm high The ivory weighs approx 363g in total. Large chip to the base. Couple of hairlines across the shoulder and head at the back. Small chip on the hair at the left ear. No noted restorations. Stand is in very good condition.
Japanese ivory okimono of a man with monkey on his back, Meiji period. 14cm high (light damage) The ivory figure is in good all round condition. There is a missing finger tip to the right hand side hand. The left hand is holding a piece of fruit, not sure if there is a break or it is just the stock, the monkey is also holding something, again not sure if its a break or the way it has been carved
19th century Chinese lacquer writing box. Decorated with gilt chinoiserie decoration on black ground. The lid rising to reveal fitted stationery compartment over a hinged writing slope, with later wooden case. 41cm long 28cm deep 18cm highThe writing box is in very good condition. On the back LHS just above the hinge there is a chip. Small chip/damage to the front right hand side bottom corner. There is an indentation RHS near corner edge, 2cm above the base small chip to the LHS and RHS bottom corners. The top corner has some rubbing/loss of gilt decoration round the outer perimeter. There are also some light abrasions to the surface. Ivory plaques have some cracks and they also have some light discolouration.
