A large Chinese carved zitan wood panel with jade and turquoise, set in a hongmu wood frame and stand, Qianlong H.: 184 cm - W.: 117 cm - D.: 47 cm (incl. stand)H.: 134 cm - W.: 96 cm (the panel)Provenance: A French private collection.Accompanied by a French export certificate.The panel is part of a group of interesting, intricately carved zitan wood furniture. These exceptional works were created to the highest standards in the imperial workshops of Beijing to adorn the imperial residences. Alfred Edward Chalon RA (1780-1860) - Bust portrait of Mrs Silas Taylor née Mary Ann Swinley (1810-1880), watercolour on ivory, in oval silver gilt mount, fully annotated verso and dated 1832, 10.5 x 8cm.Mary Ann Swinley was an old friend of Caroline Taylor and married Alfred Swaine Taylor's brother Silas in 1837.
An Early 19th Century Grenadier Officer's Sword, by Dawes, Birmingham, the 76 cm, curved, fullered, single edge blade etched with maker's name, trophies of war and other ornamental devices, further marked, ''Warranted'', the gilt brass, triple bar stirrup hilt incorporating cast and engraved grenade, scrolling quillon, cast lion head pommel with mane backstrap, wirebound ivory grip, the gilt brass mounted leather scabbard with twin ring suspensions . Blade with patches of rust overall. Gilding to hilt worn. Losses to top of ivory grip and numerous natural cracks. Scabbard with losses and cracking to leather. Dents, wear and scratches to mounts.
A Late 18th Century Infantry Officer's Spadroon, the 82.5 cm single edge blade with single fuller, the brass stirrup hilt retaining traces of original gilding, canted rectangular pommel, ribbed ivory grip, the brass-mounted leather scabbard with twin ring suspensions. Blade with overall rusting and pitting. Knucklebow slightly loose to pommel. Traces only of gilding to hilt. Scabbard with broken tailpiece and further bound repair. Other areas of cracking to leather.
A 19th Century Yaure Carve Wood Mask, Ivory Coast, the downward curving crescent shape headdress decorated with a cream pigment, with domed forehead, pierced elliptical eyes below raised brow bone extending down the small aquiline nose and with pursed lips, the outline of the mask with diaper carving highlighted in cream pigment, 36cm by 18cm **Said to have been purchased in 1913 from M.Guernier, Administrator to the ''Circle'' (District Commissioner) of Bouake, Ivory Coast. Some loss of cream pigment to headdress. Minor old chipping to the interior border. Generally in good condition.
A Hopkins & Allen XL No.4 Single Action .32 Calibre Rimfire Five Shot Revolver, with nickel plated finish, with 5cm round barrel, the top of the frame stamped HOPKINS & ALLEN MFG.Co./XL.No.4/PAT.MAR.28 1872, with sheath trigger and ivory bird's head grip scales, 15cm. Action works. Some grey patching to the metalwork. Left grip scale has a small crack to the underside of the butt.

Ogni pagina inquadrata in cornice di filetto rosso. Numerose vignette su fondo avorio nel testo. Usuale brunitura delle carte, fioriture marginali. Brossura editoriale semirigida, piatto anteriore con titolo in nero e grigio e illustrazione litografica a più colori, realizzata da Vittorio Matteo Corco. Dorso danneggiato, parziale distacco del piatto anteriore e del primo fascicolo del volume; aloni e qualche macchietta ai piatti. Prima edizione separata di questa operetta di Edmondo De Amicis (1846-1908) - la cui fama è universalmente legata al romanzo Cuore - e che riproduce il testo di una conferenza tenuta a Torino, nell'ambito di un ciclo di incontri sul vino, a Torino nel 1880. First separate edition of this writing by Edmondo De Amicis (1846-1908) - the celebrated author of the novel Cuore - containing the lecture held at Turin in 1880 - within a series of conferences devoted to wine - and dealing with its psycological effects. De Amicis's lecture had been originally published in a volume issued by Loescher in 1880, including in all eleven conferences held - along with De Amicis - by leading scientists or writers such as Cesare Lombroso and Giuseppe Giacosa. The 1890 publication is supplemented with fine illustrations executed by Arnaldo Ferraguti, Ettore Ximenes and Enrico Nardi. Parenti VIII, 136.
A mahogany canteen table with two long drawers and raised on cabriole supports enclosing a collection of Viner's 'Sandringham' pattern silver flatware comprising serving ladle, dessert knives and forks, soup spoons and egg spoons etc. and some silver-plated items, some pieces with ivory handles. Sterling silver flatware hallmarked Sheffield, 1938 & 1939, gross weight of solid silver approximately 171.57ozt.
