Dark blue cartouche shape field with large terracotta centre medallion with ivory flowerhead centre; all over strapwork and flowers with weeping willows in the terracotta spandrels; wide dark blue flower and strapwork main border with inner ivory floral guard. Finely woven with close clipped velvety wool. Soft handle.

Qazvin rug, north west Persia, mid-20th century, 6ft. 7in. X 4ft. 5in. 2.01m. X 1.35m. Very slight loss to ends. Dark red field with dark blue centre medallion; ivory and pale blue spandrels; all over flowers and foliage; dark blue palmette and floral main border; pale yellow guards. Close clipped wool in a soft palette; medium handle. Condition: Very slight loss to ends as in main description. Also There is a small fingernail-sized hole in the field, top left just under a large leaf. Barely visible in the photographs.
Three rugs, all circa 1930s-40s, the first a Baluchi prayer rug, south west Afghanistan, 4ft. 11in. X 2ft. 9in. 1.50m. X 0.84m. Small spots of old moth damage to the top half. Camel mihrab with central pole medallion flanked by kejebe motifs repeated in the camel top spandrels; main border of diamond shape medallions; scrolling ribbon outer guard. The second, an Afghan rug, 3ft. 2in. X 2ft. 11in. 0.97m. X 0.89m. Spots of old moth damage and crease marks in places. Three columns of hooked medallions in the field; stepped medallion main border. The third, Khamseh rug, Fars, south west Persia, 4ft. 11in. X 3ft. 6in. 1.50m. X 1.07m. Overall wear with holes in places and losses to ends. Dark blue field with double pole medallion; all over flowerheads and medallions; ivory leaf and calyx main border. (3)

A Chinese export carved ivory gaming counter box, Canton, early 19th century, of rectangular form, intaglio decorated to the sliding cover and sides with figures on terraces, in pleasure boats and gardens, in conversation and listening to music amongst pine trees, willow and plantain, the cover centred by a tablet with italic monogram 'SBR' within faux bamboo corners and edges, revealing a lift out platform with central white metal loop handle carrying a set of mother of pearl rectangular pierced gaming counters, all monogrammed 'SBR' and decorated with figures, fruit, flowers, fish and other auspicious symbols, slight damage, the box 7.5cm x 4cm x 10cm Provenance According to the vendor's family history, the monogram is for Spencer Browning and Rust, a London firm who manufactured navigational isntruments in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries including octants and sextants. Established by William Spencer and Samuel Browning in 1778 as Spencer and Browning, the partnership was joined by Ebenezer Rust in 1784. By1819, all the original partners had died. After the death of Ebenezer Rust's son, also Ebenezer, in 1838, the company became Spencer Browning and Co in 1840 and was in business until about 1870
