A rare 19th century Eskimo-Aleut nephrite and wood mouthpiece for a bow drill, 9cm and a carved walrus ivory fish lure, 6.2cm, shaped as a fish with horn hook and coral bead pendant,CONDITION: Provenance - T. Gerrard & Co Ltd, Pentonville Road, preparators, technicians and modellers of London were involved, amongst other things, in biology, osteology and entomology. Possibly collected by Edward Gerrard (1810-1910) of E. Gerrard & sons based in Camden, North London (opened the second premises above on Pentonville Road) was a firm of taxidermists and makers of anatomical models, and a dealer in artefacts who sold Pacific Islands collections to the British Museum and other museums.cf. a similar wood and nephrite mouth piece in the British Museum accession no. A pair of 19th century Chinese finely carved ivory lidded pots, 12.5cm high and Japanese ceramicsCONDITION: The figural finial has a hand missing and and chips to the sleeve and tail missing to the bear. Chips to the bottom edge of the coat and the feet are missing. Both covers have cracks to the edges. The carved ivory covers are in good condition considering the finials are missing and still have much of their original staining. The main body of the pots cracks from the base. The carving appears to be in good condition with original staining to the top, base and various parts of the carving. The interior has original staining to the sides and base.
