The other part of the petticoat is sold with the second matching dress. Perspiration stains and small splits at underarms. The bodice has been cut and taken in at both side seams, the skirt folds at the waist have been altered to match, the waist seams have been altered.

An un-finished embroidered apron, circa 1730-40, of ivory taffeta worked with large stylised sunflower and tulip motifs, with couched gilt threads following the original pencil design with scalloped edges, 49 by 94cm, 19 1/4 by 37inProvenance: Sizergh Castle, Cumbria CONDITION REPORT: Good condition, very fresh, slight tarnishing to petals on far left flower motif. There are 2 long threads on far right flower where the stitching as come undone or been unpicked.
The remains of a false-quilted and embroidered undress robe, English, circa 1710, embroidered in bright silks in fine chain stitch with flowering plants and floral slips, the linen ground covered with a trellis of fine yellow running stitches, backed in ivory wool, embroidered as a continuous panel - with curved, trained panel, the two front panels with plants embroidered to run vertically from the hem and the opposite direction down the back, rear neck to hem 180cm, 71inProvenance: Sizergh Castle, Cumbria CONDITION REPORT: faint staining to the ground at the rear centre back area, curved hem is slightly soiled, construction is heavily altered and sleeve sections are missing, colours are superb, there is the occasional repaired split in the ground, but nothing too obvious
A crimson damask silk robe à l'Anglaise, circa 1770, the fabric late 1720s, early 1730s, the closed front bodice, front skirt edging and angular cuffs edged in pinked, scalloped furbelows, lined in ivory silk; with a matching loom width of damask giving the impression of a petticoat (2) See V&A Museum for a similar Anna Maria Garthwaite design no 5971:2.Provenance: Sizergh Castle, Cumbria CONDITION REPORT: Very slight perspiration stains at underarms, a couple of faint bleach marks/stains on right front panel of skirt and bottom of bodice closure - however barely noticeable. No apparent alterations and the colour and fabric is superb. Lining has scattered stains and the hem lining is soiled with a few repairs near the edge. Petticoat panel formed from a loom width of matching silk.

Ribbon ruffle needs re-stitching at one end. Very, very slight discolouration to underside of brim, barely visible.

Spitalfields brocaded silk dress panels, circa 1750, the figured ivory silk woven with meanders of tulips and roses, comprising 5 loom widths from the skirt, each approx 120 x 49cm; a longer panel probably from the sack back with irregular cutouts, a quantity of fragments and a pair of curved sleeve cuffs (qty)Provenance: Sizergh Castle, Cumbria CONDITION REPORT: Skirt panels - three are still joined, two front panels have curved hems - hem edges are soiled generally, colours are good. One of the front skirt panels is soiled and has large peach-toned stains. There are two triangular skirt godets which have been cut. Long panel (probably taken from sack-back) has large curved chunks cut from it but the colours are good. Assorted bodice and other fragments - generally soiled and poor condition
A gentleman's embroidered buff silk waistcoat, circa 1755, with thirteen functioning buttonholes and corresponding silver wrapped buttons, the broad pocket flaps and edges with raised-work silver scrolls and spangled clover leaves, backed in wool, lined in ivory drabbet and challis, chest approx 92cm, 36inProvenance: Sizergh Castle, Cumbria CONDITION REPORT: Visually, good fresh, appearance, slight wear to embroidery between third and fourth buttonholes. This would have been a sleeved waistcoat but the sleeves have been removed and they have been sewn into lot 77. Slight moth damage to rear back panels, section of fabric missing from rear right armhole when the sleeves were removed.
An unusual cotton filet mesh open robe, 1790-1800, possibly for fancy-dress, with empire-line inner bodice panels, cross-over bodice, sleeves and trained skirt edged in yellow ribbonProvenance: Sizergh Castle, Cumbria CONDITION REPORT: Generally good condition, ivory silk lining to the cross-over bodice panels is brittle, the quality of internal finishing and the crudity of the net suggests to me that it was for fancy dress.
A cased set of four late 19th century ivory bodied razors by Charles Clements of Sheffield, each razor inscribed 'JB Farwell', and 'Monday-Tuesday', 'Tuesday-Thursday', 'Friday-Sunday' and 'Sunday', length 15.5cm, in original fitted box and a further set of four 'Paragon' razors by John & William Ragg, and two further associated examples, in Alexander Clark brass bound box.
Ten late 19th/early 20th century pairs of ivory and horn bodied razors including examples by Harrison Bros and Howson (handle af), Joseph Rogers & Sons, George Wostenholm, one inscribed 'Presented by John Pinder, Sheffield 1850' and JJ Saville & Co Ltd of Sheffield, all in fitted leather covered cases.
Nine boxed pairs of late 19th/early 20th century horn, ivory and ivorine bodied razors including examples by Joseph Haywood & Co, Joseph Rodgers & Sons, and WS Turner & Co, also a matched set of five Joseph Rodgers & Sons examples in original fitted coromandel and brass bound box with seven sectioned interior with brass cartouche dated 1885 to the lid, width 18cm.
A collection of predominantly early 20th century horn handled razors including examples by John C Cockhill, Cox Bros and Wade & Butcher of Sheffield, also a faux tortoiseshell handled example by Wade & Butcher with blade engraved with Masonic emblems and symbols, length of body 14.5cm, and a small unnamed ivory bodied corn razor (approx 25).
