A Dutch Oyster-Veneered Walnut, Ivory, Ebony and marquetry cabinet-on-stand, the rectangular moulded cornice above a pair of doors inlaid with geometric patterns of stars and circles and seaweed marquetry within chequer-banding, enclosing three shelves and inlaid with a star to the reverse of the doors, the lower section with further oyster-veneered and chequer banding above three frieze drawers flanked by marquetry panels, on ring-turned faceted tapering legs joined by a stretcher and on bun feet, restorations, adapted.H.211 W.175 D.56cm The parquetry pattern on the doors of this cabinet relates to a late 17th century cabinet in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam (J.van Herck, Il Mobile Fiammingo, Milan, 1972, p.93, fig 99), and although lacking the seaweed marquetry, shares much in common with a cabinet from the collection of Peter Morris, Esq., Yester House, sold Sotheby's London, 14th December 1973, lot 162.Provenance: Christie's, 30th October, 1997

A late 18th century cavalry sabre, circa 1796, with sawtooth ivory grip, brass knuckle guard, with leather scabbard and brass mounts, blade length 75cm, overall length including scabbard 88cm.Provenance: according to the family this sword was reputed to have been carried by Lt Richard Coles of the Eleventh Hussars during the Peninsular Wars and at Waterloo. This is from the Militaria collection of Mr T Ross, specialist collector of American 19th century small arms, Civil War and patented pistols.

Hand-coloured engravings from 'Britannia: or, a chorographical description of the flourishing kingdoms of England, Scotland and Ireland, and the islands adjacent; from the earliest antiquity', by William Camden. London, 1789. Mounted (2) The harp 8 by 10.50in. (20.3 by 26.7cm) The Brian Boru's harp (also known as 'Trinity College harp) is a medieval musical instrument on display in the long room at Trinity College Dublin in Ireland. It is a wire strung cláirseach. It is dated to the 14th or 15th century and, along with the Queen Mary Harp and the Lamont Harp, is one of the three oldest surviving Gaelic harps. The harp was used as a model for the coat of arms of Ireland. It may be the oldest existing harp in the world.One of very few surviving objects known to have been the personal property of an Irish king, the Kavanagh Charter Horn is an early 12th century ivory ceremonial drinking horn. The brass mountings were added in the 15th century. It is the only known piece of Irish regalia to survive Medieval Ireland. The Kavanagh family retained possession of the horn until they donated it to the National Museum of Ireland.
