A Scottish Cowhorn unmarked silver mounted dress powder flask early 19th century, the hinged lid with circular silver medallion engraved with family crest depicting a hand emerging from a cloud holding an open book with the motto `Pro Virture` and the initials G.R. the top with engraved silver band with inscription `Presented by the Ratho Shooting Club , To Geo Reid Esq. of Ratho, their preses, as a small tribute of their regards, 11th Jany. 1809.` with single suspension ring and four attachments, ivory gavel, `lucky animal foot`, a white metal rake and snuff spoon, the base of the Cowhorn with white metal cap, 12in (30.5cm) long.
Hortense Richard (French, flourished 1860-1900) A young girl, seated beside a tree oil on porcelain, signed and dated 1875 9 x 6.25in (23 x 16cm). * Hortense Richard was born in Paris and studied under the tuition of such famous artists as Jean-Baptiste Bertrand and Jules Joseph Lefebvre. She was best known for her portraits on ivory and porcelain, and this is a particularly fine example of her work in its original 19th century gilt frame.
