AN INDIAN IVORY CHESS SET, DELHI, C1820-40 stained black and natural, kings 11cm h ++Base of white king broken off. Both kings and white Queen lacking tiny button on top of the lobed bead which surmounts the crown. Head of one of the black knights detached. Both black rooks with some damage to the crenellations on top. The other pieces in good condition and all original, long in the present family's private ownership

AN ANGLO INDIAN SILVER MOUNTED IVORY WORKBOX, VIZAGAPATAM, C1820 veneered on sandalwood and decorated in lac with simple trailing foliage and Greek key border, having fitted interior and drawer, on paw feet, 28.5cm w ++The interior containing a number of original and 19th c ivory needlework tools and accessories including a silver filigree tape measure, ivory bobbin clamp and several other items. The ivory in generally good condition although lifting in places where warped. One part of the ivory on the lid with pale mushroom coloured discolouration. The silver mounts all present and original. The silver initials IA of slightly later date, by family tradition those of Isabelle Ashton wife of Captain Ashton RA
