A 19th century Chinese export black lacquer box:.the hinged lid decorated with figures seated in a pagoda landscape enclosing a fitted interior for assorted ivory and tortoiseshell puzzles, most absent, the silk lined interior bears a label Lee Ohing, Canton, with metal carrying handles to the sides, 48cm. wide.

Indian Antique Book, J.W.D. Johnstone, Gwalior 1905 J.W.D. Johnstone, Gwalior 1905, narrative of the official visit of the Prince and Princess of Wales, later King George V and Queen Mary to the Indian state of Gwalior, with eleven colored plates of Indian military costumes and thirty eight plates in photogravure, quarto, size 11" x 8 3/4", superbly bound in full green Morocco, elaborately tooled on both sides with over 120 fleur de lys in gilt, surrounded by gilt borders and with raised bands and gilt panels on the back with cobra snake design, the front cover decorated with a fine hand painted ivory portrait medallion of the Maharaja Scindia, the Monarch of Gwalior, with an oval gold frame and crystal glazing, only twelve numbered copies were privately printed for presentation, and this copy, number ten, is inscribed and signed by the Maharaja and also the author.
