A LARGE CHINESE IVORY CARVING OF A MOUNTAIN QING DYNASTY Formed as a steep rocky mountain with a temple on the summit, with many monks climbing and resting on the mountain path, some depicted riding animals, the setting rich with pine, wutong and other trees, all raised on an octagonal-section ivory base decorated with flowers and archaistic scrolls, the base carved as a flowerhead, 45.4cm overall. There is some splitting and possible signs of solder repair to the handle where it meets the teapot body (pictured). Heavy scratching and wear to and around the ivory insulators. There are small to moderate dents to some of the highpoints of the decoration on the body and around the spout, and there are a couple of large dents to the sides amongst the embossed detailing (unable to photograph as they do not show up very well on camera). There is a patch of solder repair to one of the embossed flowers (pictured). Foot is in good order, no signs of splitting or repair. The piece shows general scratching and wear commensurate with age and use.Sucrier: Moderate amount of denting to the highpoints of the decoration, and some very small splits, but no major damage or repair. The piece does not sit completely flat on a level surface and does wobble slightly. Gilt interior shows moderate scratching, but is largely in tact.
