A good part cotton ghileem by the Darrehshuri taifeh of the Qashqa'i Confederation, Fars province, south west Persia late 19th century, 9ft.8in. x 5ft.8in. 2.94m. x 1.73m. Slight wear or corrosion of the different brown areas in the centre; some small repairs and reweaves. The ivory areas are worked in cotton. This remarkable ghileem has an unusually soft yet extensive array of twelve distinct colours.
