Lot 366
A 19th Century black lacquered and gilt decorated Chinese Qing Dynasty polychrome painted fan decorated with multiple figures in court setting (faces superimposed on ivory, some flags and cloth elements of the picture superimposed on silk and clothing) CONDITION REPORTS Some light surface scratches to the sticks and guards. The leaf has wear and areas of loss to the paint at the creases. Wear to the edge of the fan and some small areas of loss to the banding at the edge. Some minor splits to the edge of the leaf as well. Some fraying and discoluration to the silk used for the clothes on the figures. General wear and tear commensurate with age and use. A collection of ornamental ivory and other wares to include ivory chicken, Chinese style carved mother-of-pearl notepad, jade figure of a pheasant, celadon glazed style dish stamped "Made in Japan" etc CONDITION REPORTS The rooster has surface scratches, accretions, etc, discoluration to one side. One of the roosters toes is missing, also both of the spurs are missing. There is what appears to be some glue on one side of the rooster's neck. There appears to be old repairs to both of the rooster's hackles and the end of the sickle feather is missing. Old repair to both legs where they meet the body. Some fold marks to border. some corrosion to black and dark blue dyes to outer borders. More significant wear to one end, warp showing, large stripe to one end 1m x 5cm; selvedges in good condition and professionally repaired in some areas; ends appear to have been professionally secured, minor loss to end guard stripes; overall even wear to field with more significant wear to the centre; one end appears to have been cut and professionally resown to make the carpet lie flat

He eight circular pictures are of apostles and saints, one has damage to glass, all are a little dirty this is mainly to edges so probably on glass. General condition fair, some minor issues in line with age and usage.
