A Four-Piece George V Silver Tea-Service, by Lee and Wigfield, Sheffield, 1931 and 1932, each piece in the Art Deco taste with faceted sides, comprising: a teapot and hot-water jug, each with carved ivory handle and finial; a cream-jug and a sugar-bowl, the hot-water jug 22cm high, gross weight 56oz (4). Each piece marked near handle. The teapot and hot-water jug further marked inside cover. The marks are clear. In generally good condition with some minor surface scratches and wear, consistent with age and use. There are some typical cracks and discolouration to the ivory handles and finials.

18 th century English school – Head & shoulders portrait of a bearded elderly gentleman wearing a blue turban and ermine collar, oval miniature portrait on ivory, bearing hand-written inscription verso reading ‘Miniature of an old man’s head on ivory by Lady Lucan’, 5 x 4.5cm, in ebonised frame. Note: Lady Lucan possibly refers to Margaret Bingham, Countess of Lucan (1740-1814), who was a renowned copyist and miniature portraitist. In a 1779 letter from Horace Walpole to Sir Horace Mann, Walpole states “Lady Lucan has an astonishing genius for copying whatever she sees. The pictures I lent her from my collection, and some advice I gave her, certainly brought her talent to marvellous perfection in five months”

CONDITION REPORTS: Some patination wear, chip to reverse of onyx plinth, chip to index finger and thumb of back hand and also loose, split to head, leading hand re-glued, general wear.

CONDITION REPORTS: Generally good with expected wear, seems to be in working order, movement unexamined.
