Chinese red silk hanging, embroidered in coloured silks and couched gold coloured metal thread, central shou motif surrounded by bats in shades of blue and ivory; peonies and floral sprays to the corners; repeated in the top panel, peach cotton band at the top with a loop to each side; the main panel and the top rectangular panel lined with fine peach cotton, China, early 20th century., 36in., 92cm. square approx. the top panel, 36in., 92cm. long x 9in., 23cm. deep.
Two pairs of Chinese silk sleeve bands, one pair ivory silk ground finely embroidered in coloured silks and metal thread with river landscapes, peacocks and butterflies; flowers and foliage within a tiny flowerhead border; early 20th century, 20½ in. x 8in. 52cm. x 20cm. the other pair grey cotton (?) ground embroidered in coloured silks and metal thread with a pair of exotic butterflies; flowers and foliage, 20th century, 14in. x 7in. 36cm. x 18cm. Chinese black silk reversible shawl, embroidered in shades of apricot and pink with all over summer flowers and foliage, narrow black silk fringe, circa 1920s, 64in. x 61in. 163cm. x 158cm.; And a Chinese ivory silk shawl, embroidered in ivory with flowers and peacocks in each corner; the centre completely plain; narrow ivory silk fringe, circa 1950s, 57in. 145cm. square. Pair of glazed cotton curtains and deep pelmet, printed all over roses on an ivory and green leaf pattern ground, similar ruffles to edges and hems, both curtains and pelmet fixed to wooden bars. English, 20th century, 86in.drop x 61in. at the base; 219cm. drop x 155cm. at the base the two curtains 60in. wide 53cm. wide at top; the pelmet 51in. drop x 62in. wide 130cm. x 158cm. All with ‘draw’ mechanism and the pelmet with very heavy lead weights. The two curtains fixed as one to the wooden bar plus the separate pelmet. Very slight sun fading. All in need of a deep clean. Two pairs of attractive crewel work curtains, ivory linen ground worked in muted coloured wools with trailing flowers and foliage, lined and interlined with deep French pleated tops, each 101in. drop x 94in. wide at base; 257cm. x 239cm. each curtain measures 42in., 107cm. across the pleated top. English, 20th century. Some water damage to the base of one curtain; few small stains in places; sun fading to the edges. (4)
An attractive folding fan, the gold coloured metal thread gauze leaf with ivory silk (?) appliqué border to both edges; decorated with gold coloured and silver coloured metal spangles to mother of pearl guards and sticks with pierced bone ribs à l’anglaise, gold coloured metal loop, 8½ in. 22cm. Early 20th century. In a white card Duvelleroy box with ‘842/39’ in black ink and ‘381 W’ in pencil on the base of the box. Small rivet to the left guard near the base; the fan generally a little grubby; damage and rubbing to the box.
Three Yuruk (Kurdish) filiklis, east Anatolia 20th century, the first with mauve, ivory and turquoise central square surrounded by red and blue-grey 7ft.10in. x 3ft.10in. 2.38m. x 1.17m., the second in green, brown and blue 5ft 5ft.3in. x 3ft.11in. 1.60m. x 1.20m. and the third in shades of blue and ivory and red 5ft.1in. x 3ft.7in. 1.55m. x 1.10m. Sold as a collection with all faults not subject to return (3)
Fragmented Yomut Turkmen chuval, Turkmenistan mid 19th century, 2ft.5in. x 3ft.4in. 0.74m. x 1.02m. Overall uneven wear. Tear to top right corner, right side including all borders missing, other three sides slightly ragged with minor losses. Despite its condition, a lovely old Yomut chuval with some beautiful features, notably the so-called `dragon and phoenix` pattern in the lower elem, a design often encountered on older Yomut chuvals with asymmetric knotting. The piece has eight colours - red-brown (ground), red, dark blue, dark green, light green, yellow-ochre, dark brown, ivory. A fascinating study piece.
Remarkable Genje rug, south east Caucasus late 19th century, 6ft.11in. x 4ft. 2.11m. x 1.22m. Large hole with surrounding damage lower end left, moth damage in several places, dark brown ground evenly corroded to give embossed look to botehs. The outstanding feature of this remarkable rug is its palette, with a vivid turquoise blue, pale blue, pale green, bright yellow, burgundy red, dark brown and ivory.
