Afshar Rug, the ivory field with columns of heraldic devices enclosed by borders of stylised flowerheads and carnation guard stripes, 188cm by 138cmIn our opinion the dyes are natural, but have not been tested; on a cotton foundation which shows it to be 1920 or a little later. Pile is evenly low throughout with areas of wear and damage to outer guard stripes. Area or rucking and splits in one border.

Would benefit from some overall sympathetic restoration

A 19th century Anglo-Indian Sadeli mosaic and ivory combined sewing and writing box, the top opening to reveal a partially fitted sewing box containing reel holders, a tatting shuttle and other items, and having a pull-out drawer beneath with writing surface, overall highly decorated in Sadeli micromosaic, possibly retailed by Halstaff & Hannaford, Regent's Street (for reference see lot 449 in Woolley & Wallis sale 3rd July 2019), 44cms wide.
