An Italian cased pinfire presentation revolver.dating: third quarter of the 19th Centuryprovenance: ItalyItalian pinfire engraved revolver, 12 mm caliber with engraved ivory grips, signed on the barrel: "Bignami a Brescia incisore armi". Profusely and masterfully engraved with scrolls, vine leaves, cynegetic scenes and grotesque masks; on the trigger guard the head of Gorgona is engraved.The extractor with the lanyard ring is screwed in the cross. In original fitted, violet velvet and silk lined, case, with some accessories. On the case cover, roughly engraved, the name of the first owner, great grandfather of the actual seller.The beauty and the quality of the engraving suggest that the author`s identity corresponds to the famous Adolfo Bignami, carver, Telemaco Signorini`s master and, together with him, founder of the magazine "L`arte in Italia". To Bignami, excellent engraver, no engravings on weapons have been attributed so far, and, if the signature would have been confirmed, this one presented would be the only work known.dimensions: length 29 cm.
