Oval face and hair divided into regular bands and small braids falling on shoulders and behind ears. Nose is elongated and lips are lips in the ‘archaic smile’.Restored.PROVENANCE:Property of a gentleman; acquired by his grandfather in the 1940s; thence by descent.
A FINE 19TH.C. SMALL DESK OR BRACKET CLOCK. EBONISED CASE ON GILT BRASS FEET AND SURMOUNTED WITH A 19TH.C.CARVED IVORY FIGURE GROUP. ENGRAVED SILVERED DIAL SIGNED L.UPTON, CORNHILL, LONDON WITH TWO TRAIN STRIKING MOVEMENT WITH BALANCE ESCAPEMENT, THE REAR PLATE SIGNED AS PER THE DIAL AND CONTAINED IN PERIOD MAHOGANY TRANSIT CASE.measures 14 x 10 cm (at the feet) x 16cm high (24cm including the figure) appears fully functional and is keeping time.the ivory figure whilst of the period is in our opinion later attached and the mahoagny case bespoke made / adapted to fit.NOTE- NAME ON DIAL IS C LUPTON (NOT UPTON)
